Role Overview
Syaala Infra is seeking a highly experienced Lead Design Engineer / Solutions Architect to serve as the technical owner of our modular data center pods. This role is responsible for converting customer requirements into complete electrical, cooling, and mechanical designs for 20 ft and 40 ft modular data center containers intended for export to the United States.
The ideal candidate has deep experience in data center infrastructure, industrial electrical systems, and precision cooling, and can produce engineering documentation to support Intertek Field Evaluation (FE) and U.S.-market compliance.
Key Responsibilities1. End-to-End Pod Architecture
Develop complete technical designs for 60–500 kW modular pods.
Translate customer specifications into detailed engineering packages.
Define power distribution, cooling systems, rack layout, airflow, containment, and redundancy paths.
2. Electrical Design
Produce single-line diagrams (SLDs), wiring diagrams, and panel schedules.
Size and specify UPS systems, battery banks, transformers, PDUs, RPPs, breakers, cables, and grounding.
Perform cable sizing, load calculations, and coordination studies.
Ensure all electrical designs follow NEC-style best practices and FE readiness requirements.
3. Cooling and Thermal Design
Select and size in-row precision cooling systems and related condenser units.
Create refrigerant piping diagrams, airflow layouts, and thermal load analyses.
Integrate controls (Carel, Danfoss, EC fans) and ensure cooling designs match IT load and environmental conditions.
4. Fire and Safety Engineering
Determine FM-200 / HFC-227ea suppression agent volumes and nozzle layouts.
Integrate fire detection and control systems with the pod architecture.
5. Documentation and Compliance
Prepare complete engineering documentation :
Bills of materials
Understand export compliance with UL, CE, ETL, BiS, etc
Specification sheets
Installation drawings
FE documentation
Labeling and routing schedules
Maintain standardized pod templates and SKUs for repeatable manufacturing.
Ensure compliance with U.S. safety and inspection expectations.
6. Factory Support and FAT Oversight
Provide hands-on support to the factory team during assembly and integration.
Resolve engineering questions and validate component installations.
Support Factory Acceptance Testing (IR testing, cooling trials, load bank tests).
Approve final engineering configuration for each pod.
Required QualificationsEducational Background
Bachelor’s or masters degree in Electrical (preferred), Industrial, or Mechanical Engineering.
Professional Experience
3+ years of experience in one or more of the following areas :
Data center electrical / cooling design (IT 60-500 kW)
Modular or containerized infrastructure(ISO 20-40ft)
Industrial power distribution (100–500 kVA)
UPS, battery, and transformer integration
Precision cooling systems (DX, CRAC / CRAH, in-row, liquid, hybrid)
Technical Competencies
Proficiency in creating SLDs, wiring diagrams, mechanical layout drawings, and panel schedules.
Strong AutoCAD 2D skills; familiarity with SolidWorks or similar tools is a plus.
Deep understanding of UPS systems, transformer sizing, breaker coordination, cable sizing, grounding, and power redundancy.
Knowledge of DX cooling, refrigerant circuits, airflow engineering, and in-row cooling integration.
Familiarity with U.S. NEC / UL / ETL requirements or strong willingness to learn.
Soft Skills
Highly organized, detail-oriented, and documentation-driven.
Strong communication skills and ability to work cross-functionally.
Capable of providing technical guidance to technicians and operations staff.
