Job description

Key Responsibilities :

  • Design, develop, and maintain relational and non-relational databases to support business applications.
  • Write and optimize SQL queries, stored procedures, triggers, and functions for high performance.
  • Collaborate with software developers to design database schemas , data models , and integrations .
  • Ensure data integrity, accuracy, and consistency across systems.
  • Monitor and tune database performance, including indexing, query optimization, and partitioning .
  • Assist in database design for new applications and ensure adherence to best practices.
  • Implement and manage data migration , ETL processes , and data integration pipelines .
  • Work with DBAs on backup and recovery , security management , and user access controls .
  • Support testing, debugging, and deployment of database components.
  • Document database designs, architecture decisions, and procedures.
  • Stay updated with emerging database technologies and recommend improvements.

Required Skills & Qualifications :

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field .
  • Strong proficiency in SQL and PL / SQL programming.
  • Experience with relational databases (e.g., MySQL, PostgreSQL, Oracle, SQL Server).
  • Familiarity with NoSQL databases (e.g., MongoDB, Cassandra, DynamoDB) is a plus.
  • Solid understanding of database design principles , normalization , and data modeling .
  • Knowledge of ETL tools (Informatica, Talend, SSIS) or data integration frameworks .
  • Experience with cloud databases such as AWS RDS, Azure SQL, or Google Cloud SQL .
  • Understanding of performance tuning , indexing strategies , and query optimization .
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.

    • Preferred Qualifications :

  • Certifications such as :
  • Microsoft Certified : Azure Database Administrator Associate
  • Oracle Certified Professional (OCP)
  • AWS Certified Database – Specialty
  • Experience with data warehousing , data lakes , or business intelligence systems .
  • Familiarity with CI / CD pipelines for database deployment and version control (e.g., Liquibase, Flyway).
  • Knowledge of Python, R, or other scripting languages for data automation tasks.
  • Exposure to big data platforms (Hadoop, Spark, Snowflake, Redshift).
