Job Summary

The Database Administrator (DBA) will be responsible for managing and maintaining DBC’s core databases that power platforms like AMRIT. The role involves ensuring high availability, performance, security, and reliability of databases while supporting day-to-day operations, deployments, and data-driven decision-making. The DBA will work closely with application developers, infrastructure teams, and business stakeholders to design, optimize, and troubleshoot database systems that support healthcare delivery at scale.

Responsibilties :

  • Install, configure, upgrade, and maintain relational database systems MySQL as applicable) both on-premises and on cloud (AWS RDS, Aurora, Azure SQL, GCP Cloud SQL)
  • Monitor database performance and tune queries, indexes, and configurations to ensure optimal response times using tools like CloudWatch, Performance Insights, Grafana, or pgAdmin
  • Ensure data security, integrity, backup, and recovery processes are in place and regularly tested using both traditional and cloud-native approaches (snapshots, automated backups, cross-region replication)
  • Automate routine database maintenance and deployment tasks using CI / CD pipelines, Terraform, or AWS-native services
  • Support deployments by reviewing database scripts, migrations, and data patches for both on-prem and cloud environments
  • Troubleshoot database-related issues in production and non-production environments, including performance bottlenecks, connectivity issues, and cloud integration errors
  • Collaborate with developers to design efficient database schemas, optimize queries, and implement best practices for scalable cloud-based applications
  • Implement and monitor disaster recovery and high-availability strategies such as clustering, replication, multi-AZ, and failover setups in cloud platforms
  • Maintain comprehensive documentation for database configurations, processes, and cloud runbooks
  • Assist in building data governance frameworks and ensure compliance with organizational and regulatory standards (HIPAA, DISHA, etc.)
  • Support reporting and analytics teams with optimized queries and data pipelines from cloud databases

Desirable Qualification & Experience :

  • Qualification :
  • o Bachelor’s / Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field

  • Experience :
  • o Strong hands-on experience with MySQL DBA

    o Expertise in database monitoring and observability tools (e.g., pgAdmin, Prometheus, Grafana, CloudWatch, New Relic, Performance Insights)

    o Deep understanding of query optimization, indexing strategies, and performance tuning in high-transaction environments

    o Experience with backup, recovery, replication, clustering, and failover strategies (on-premises and cloud)

    o Familiarity with Linux environments, shell scripting, and automation tools (Ansible, Terraform, CI / CD pipelines)

    o Good understanding of APIs, application-database interactions, and deployment workflows in microservices-based architectures

    o Hands-on experience with cloud-based databases such as AWS RDS, Aurora, Azure SQL, or GCP Cloud SQL — including provisioning, scaling, security, and monitoring

    o Knowledge of data governance, compliance standards, and healthcare data privacy regulations (like GDPR, DPDPA) is an advantage

    o Prior exposure to healthcare or health-tech systems is a plus
