About the Team

The Data team enables all functions with the power of data and insights allowing Postman to take high impact data-driven decisions with confidence. The Data Engineering team is responsible for building the performant reliable and secure data platform.

We are looking for a passionate Senior Data Engineer to join the Data Engineering this role you will be responsible for the development of data pipelines and processes to help reach insights faster. You will contribute to empowering Postmanauts with a self-serve analytics platform by working on scalable solutions like AI agents.

What Youll Do

As a Senior Data Engineer at Postman you will play a key role in designing developing and maintaining the next-generation data infrastructure that powers insights and innovation across the company. Youll build systems that ensure data reliability scalability and security enabling teams across Postman to make informed data-driven decisions.

Key Responsibilities :

Build and Optimize Pipelines : Develop and maintain high-throughput data pipelines using Spark Kafka Airflow and Python ensuring efficient data ingestion processing and delivery.

Architect Scalable Data Systems : Design a resilient cloud-agnostic data platform that operates seamlessly across AWS GCP and Azure with strong automation and observability.

Ensure Security and Compliance : Partner with the security team to implement best practices in data governance access control and compliance ( GDPR SOC 2 etc.).

Lead Technical Initiatives : Own end-to-end delivery from architecture and design to implementation and operations driving high-impact data projects and platform improvements.

Collaborate and Mentor : Work closely with cross-functional teams mentor engineers contribute to code reviews and set standards for engineering excellence.

Maintain and Improve Reliability : Troubleshoot and resolve complex data issues ensuring data quality reliability and performance across all pipelines and systems.

Requirements

You have at least 7 years of experience working and scaling with data pipelines and warehouses.

You have a good understanding of at least one programming language preferably Python and Go.

Experience working with cloud data platforms (e.g. Redshift Databricks Snowflake BigQuery) to enable efficient storage and query performance.

Prior experience in building data applications on top of Kubernetes (Most of our data applications run in EKS ).

Demonstrated skill set in handling and scaling the data stack while keeping it robust and secure.

Have strong problem-solving skills with a bias for action.

Have strong communication skills with the ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment.

Offer mentorship to junior engineers ensuring best practices and high-quality code standards through code reviews and constructive feedback.

Nice to have

Exposure to orchestration (preferably Airflow) and data quality tools.

Worked on big data processing tools like Spark (on Databricks) or Trino using Delta / Iceberg table formats.

Worked on initiatives that use AI / LLMs to optimize Data Engineering processes.

Worked on realtime data pipelines involving Kafka or any other streaming tools.

This position is based in Hyderabad (Hybrid)
