We are seeking an experienced optics design engineer in a manager’s role to lead and drive the design, development, validation and optimization of optical and opto-mechanical sub-systems / systems for high-performance analytical instruments. The role involves the use of advanced techniques for precise optical alignment and geometry to ensure throughput matches optical simulations. The role provides ample opportunities for continuous innovation and collaboration with cross functional teams such as Mechanical Design, Electronics, Software, Production and Service.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES :
Lead design and development of optical sub-systems and systems for opto- electronic instruments using simulation tools and ray tracing software
Ensure the design meets product performance specifications with adequate reliability, robustness and ruggedness appropriate for field applications
Build and test prototypes using a design of experiments approach and validate simulation results
Identify areas of improvement and carry out refinement of existing optical setups, incorporating newer techniques and components
Develop test jigs and processes for optical component characterization and for easier alignment and validation of optical systems
Liaise with cross functional teams such as mechanical, electronic, software and applications during the design and validation of new designs and for final integration testing of the product
Document test results and create Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) and Work Instructions (WI) for release to the Production team
Play a key role in diagnosing and troubleshooting optical issues or challenges faced by Production or by Service teams such as alignment and repeatability of spectral profiles
Participate in design reviews, change management processes, and continuous improvement initiatives.
