OpenText VIM Functional Consultant - Job Description

Project Overview

We are seeking a skilled and experienced OpenText VIM Functional Consultant to join our team for a long-term engagement. The project involves replacing OpenText Extended ECM (Content Management) with OpenText VIM (Vendor Invoice Management). The client currently utilizes VIM for certain attachments and other tools for unstructured document storage. This role is specifically for a functional expert in OpenText VIM, as other aspects of unstructured document storage are handled by internal client staff.

Key Responsibilities

Serve as the functional subject matter expert for OpenText Vendor Invoice Management (VIM).

Lead the analysis, design, configuration, and implementation of VIM solutions to replace the existing Extended ECM system.

Work closely with business stakeholders to gather requirements, define processes, and translate them into technical specifications.

Configure VIM workflows, document types, and approval processes to meet business needs.

Conduct system testing, user acceptance testing (UAT), and provide end-user training and support.

Collaborate with technical teams on integrations between VIM and other enterprise systems, particularly SAP.

Troubleshoot and resolve functional issues related to the VIM application.

Document all project-related activities, including configurations, processes, and testing results.

Required Qualifications

Minimum of 2 years of hands-on, functional experience with OpenText Vendor Invoice Management (VIM).

Proven experience in configuring VIM document processing, workflows, and invoice approval processes.

Strong understanding of invoice processing concepts, including OCR, invoice capture, and exception handling.

Experience with VIM integration with SAP FI / CO modules is highly desirable.

Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.

Ability to work independently and as part of a distributed team.

Must be able to work hours that overlap with North American time zones (until approximately 12 PM EST).

Additional Technical Skills

OpenText Components : Experience with other key OpenText components that often integrate with VIM, such as OpenText Archive Server, OpenText Enterprise Scan, and OpenText ICC / BCR (Invoice Capture Center / Business Center Recognition).

SAP Integration : Deep technical understanding of the integration points between OpenText VIM and SAP, including knowledge of IDocs, BAPIs, and basic ABAP debugging for troubleshooting.

VIM Reporting & Analytics : Skills in configuring and utilizing VIM's reporting capabilities, including VIM Analytics and custom reports, to provide business insights and monitor performance.

Workflow Configuration : Advanced knowledge of SAP Business Workflow and the ability to configure complex, multi-level approval workflows, including delegation and substitution rules, within VIM.

API / Web Services : Familiarity with configuring VIM to interact with external systems using REST APIs or other web services for data exchange.

System Upgrades & Migrations : Experience with planning and executing VIM system upgrades or migrations, including a solid grasp of the necessary testing cycles and data migration strategies.
