AREAS OFRESPONSIBILITY
Participates in the development and implementation of business strategies for the hotel which are aligned with Radisson’s overall mission, vision values and strategies
- Develops and implements strategies for achieving department goals
- Monitors status regularly and adjusts strategies and programs as appropriate
Directs the operation of the Engineering Department
Develops plan for completing routine maintenance and renovations; coordinates work with hotel department managersIdentifies and selects vendors as appropriateCreates a safe environment for guests and employees by ensuring that the hotel is maintained in accordance with safety standardsServes as project manager for hotel renovations; coordinates project status with corporate technical services, architects, licensing agencies, contractors and hotel managementEvaluates forecasted business and projects and schedules staff accordinglyEnsures hotel adheres to all regulatory and safety standards by meeting with government and insurance inspectors and taking corrective actions as neededKeeps all mechanical, electrical and structural blueprints up to dateEnsures that staff is up to date on certifications and training necessary to maintain operating systemsPrepares engineering budget; monitors actual versus budgeted expenses and takes corrective actions when necessaryDevelops and implements strategies and practices which support employee engagement
Provides employees with the orientation and training needed to understand expectations and perform job responsibilities
Communicates performance expectations and provides employees with on-going feedback

Minimum of 7 to 12 years work experience in the hotel industry in EngineeringMinimum one - two years supervisory experience preferredBachelor’s degree preferredAble to resolve conflicts guests, supervisor and employeeAble to collaborate effectively with other hotel employees and managers to ensure teamworkAdvance knowledge of building management and engineeringExcellent organizational skillsGeneral understanding of insurance requirementsGood oral and written communication skillsExperience working in a union environmentWorking knowledge of electrical, plumbing, HVAC, refrigeration and life safety operating systems
