Overview
- This Applications Support Engineer II designs, plans, installs, maintains and troubleshoots telecom applications and services
- The position has a range of responsibilities and works with development,
product management, network operations and external customers to plan,
deploy and manage systems and services provided to TNS’ telecom
customers
Responsibilities
Primary Duties and Responsibilities :
Design, Plan, Install, Administer and Troubleshoot applications, systems, andservices in production and lab / test environments
Analyze and resolve complex problems including interoperability issues causedby hardware, software, or network components
Participate in architecture / design review, requirements analysis, capacityplanning and provide guidance to development and product management teams
Assist in Integration of applications and services with network managementtools and other enterprise tools
Develop KPIs and other system metrics for capacity planning, performancemanagement, and monitoring
Oversee daily operations of large-scale carrier grade systems; schedule,document and implement maintenance and troubleshooting procedures as
necessary
Pro-actively communicate status to project managers, upper management, andcustomers
Participate in an on-call rotation to maintain 24x7 service supportQualifications
Qualifications :
4+ years’ experience administering applications and services hosted on Linux(RHEL and derivate) operating systems
2+ years’ experience planning, integrating, and operating carrier or enterprisegrade high-availability telecom solutions
Understanding of Systems and Network Architecture of large-scale distributednetworks
Understanding and working knowledge of IP networks and security devicesincluding routers, switches, load balancers, firewalls, and VPNs
Experience integrating with monitoring, analytics, and network managementtools and products such as Splunk
Possess strong interpersonal and communication skillsDemonstrated problem solving and incident management skillsOptional Desired Qualifications :
Experience with an automation framework such as Ansible, Chef, or PuppetExperience with Foreman helpfulExperience with Virtualization software, such as VMware, helpfulScripting or coding experience is helpfulKnowledge of and / or experience operating within a compliance framework,such as PCI, helpful
Education and Certifications :
