(10 / 11 / 2025) Upstream Team Lead

We are seeking a motivated and skilled upstream process development scientist to join our R&D team at Biocon Biologics. The role involves leading and executing upstream process development activities with a primary focus on mammalian cell culture, while also supporting microbial systems as needed. The ideal candidate will contribute to process design, scale-up / scale-down models, technology transfer, and cross-functional collaboration to drive robust and scalable bioprocesses for clinical and commercial manufacturing.

1. Work with and to lead upstream process development, scale up, scale-down model, and process characterization.

2. Core strength in mammalian upstream. Knowledgeable or openness to learn microbial upstream will be an additional requirement.

3. Assess risk and actively plan for risk mitigation strategies during process development and technology transfer

4. Collaboration with cross functional teams within RND & other departments like manufacturing, quality control, quality assurance for technical discussions related to process development, technology transfer, and process improvement.

5. Support Manufacturing in technology transfer, coordination with program management and cross functional teams to deliver on program timelines. Provide appropriate support for regulatory dossier, filing and audits.

6. Scientific awareness on the latest advancements in bioprocessing. Possess statistical knowledge and DOE concepts into upstream development.

7. Thorough data analysis using latest tools for supporting technical decisions.

8. Recording and reviewing of raw data in accordance to GDP principles. Prepare work presentations, write technical documents (process protocols, technical / development reports), procedures (SOP’s / IOP’s / EOP’s)

9. Coordinate within and across team for smooth functioning of lab activities.

Qualifications :

1. MS / MSc / MTech with 10-15 Years of industrial experience

2. 3-6 Years industry experience post PhD
