Mata Amritanandamayi Mandir Trust (MAMAT) is developing one of India’s most ambitious Cultural and Heritage Theme Parks at Mahabalipuram, Tamil Nadu — an 83-acre destination integrating ancient Indian temple architecture, monumental stone craftsmanship, and cutting-edge immersive technologies .

The project centers around a 108-meter-high dressed stone sanctum , conceived as a millennium-grade monument the Pride of Bharat . Complementing this centerpiece are immersive museums, multimedia theatres, monumental water shows, and curated experiential zones envisioned to receive millions of visitors annually .

MAMAT collaborates with leading architects, sthapathis, structural experts, stone technologists, and creative consultants to achieve a global benchmark in heritage architecture, sustainability, and spiritual experience — targeting completion by 2029 .

Role : Architectural & Design Coordination – Monumental Stone Structures

Core Responsibilities

1. Design Review & Management

  • Review architectural, structural, and MEP drawings specific to dressed stone masonry and monumental-scale construction .
  • Verify accuracy in stone block sizing, jointing systems, interlocks, anchorage, and load transfer mechanisms.
  • Maintain a centralized register of design revisions, RFIs, and interdisciplinary approvals, ensuring full version control.
  • Identify and highlight early-stage design conflicts between stone, steel, RCC, and lime-pozzolana interfaces to prevent rework.

2. Coordination & Stakeholder Communication

  • Facilitate technical coordination meetings between architects, sthapathis, structural engineers, CNC fabrication teams, and site execution staff.
  • Act as the design–execution bridge , providing on-site clarifications and verifying constructability of stone assembly details.
  • Coordinate with heritage experts, sthapathis, and Vastu consultants to maintain architectural integrity and traditional alignment.
  • Ensure shop drawings and CNC cutting files (STL / DWG formats) reflect approved architectural intent and tolerance limits.
  • 3. Compliance & Quality Control

  • Ensure all designs meet heritage, safety, and structural standards , including load paths, seismic resilience, and long-term weather durability.
  • Validate detailing related to lime mortars, dressed stone joints, plug & tenon mechanisms, clamp fixings, and waterproofing transitions .
  • Support third-party technical reviews (SERC, IITs, academic / heritage bodies) for compliance and certification.
  • 4. Documentation & Reporting

  • Prepare and circulate design coordination minutes, progress trackers, and approval matrices .
  • Maintain a live design dashboard tracking drawing dependencies, decision bottlenecks, and structural clearances.
  • Document as-built deviations and propose corrective design measures where necessary.
  • 5. Execution & Field Integration

  • Liaise with site engineers, fabrication teams, and CNC workshops to ensure accurate implementation of stone profiles and joints.
  • Review and approve shop / fabrication drawings for stone courses, buttresses, domes, capitals, and column assemblies.
  • Support periodic architectural quality audits and visual inspections of finished stonework.
  • Qualification & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Architecture (B.Arch) or equivalent; Master’s in Heritage / Monumental Architecture / Conservation Studies preferred.
  • 5–15 years of experience in design coordination or architectural management of temples, heritage monuments, or stone-based structures .
  • Proven capability in multi-disciplinary coordination (Architecture–Structure–Services–Heritage).
  • Strong understanding of dressed stone construction , lime-based systems, and traditional Indian structural vocabulary .
  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD, Revit, Rhino, and BIM-based coordination tools ; exposure to CNC fabrication and STL modeling workflows is an advantage.
  • Familiarity with Vastu principles, sthapathi methods, and Indian temple geometry preferred.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills to interact with consultants, cultural institutions, and executing teams.
  • Willingness to work full-time on-site at Mahabalipuram / Chennai , coordinating daily between office, design consultants, and workshops.
