Role L Software Engineer III (iSeries Engineering)

Location : Staples India Business Innovation Hub, Chennai.

About the Role :

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced RPG Developer to join our Order Management Systems (OMS) team.

This role is ideal for a technical expert passionate about building and maintaining high-performance applications using RPG on IBM i (AS / 400, iSeries) systems.

You will play a critical role in designing, enhancing, and maintaining Order Management solutions that support business-critical operations across multiple domains with primary focus on B2B Order Creation and Management.

Responsibilities :

• Design, develop, test, and maintain RPG-based applications on IBM i platforms.
• Lead enhancements and bug-fixes in Order Management Systems (OMS), with deep understanding of customer account management, order entry, order fulfillment, billing, and returns modules.
• Translate business requirements into high-quality, scalable, secure, and maintainable code.
• Work collaboratively with Product Owners, QA, and multiple application and infrastructure teams located in USA and India to deliver end-to-end OMS solutions.
• Conduct root cause analysis and performance tuning of the applications.
• Modernize legacy RPG code (e.g., RPG III to RPG IV / ILE / Free Format) where necessary.
• Create and maintain technical documentation, including code reviews and release notes.
• Comply with Change Management, PCI, PII, SOX policies and best practices.
• Provide technical mentorship to junior developers.
