Job description

We are seeking a skilled UniVerse Data Administrator to ensure the structure, quality, performance, and accessibility of data within the UniVerse environment. This role will focus on database administration, performance tuning, data integrity, and operational support, while also managing batch jobs and collaborating with stakeholders across technology and business teams.

JOB SPECIFIC DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Create, configure, and maintain UniVerse files (hashed files, directories)
  • Design and manage dictionaries, indexes, and metadata for optimized data retrieval
  • Optimize file structures (modulo, hash sizing) to improve performance and scalability
  • Handle data imports, exports, and migrations across environments
  • Conduct data quality checks, validation, and cleansing activities to ensure accuracy
  • Manage backup, recovery, and restore processes for UniVerse data files
  • Implement and enforce field-level permissions, security controls, and access policies
  • Support reporting and analytics teams by preparing query-ready datasets
  • Monitor, schedule, and troubleshoot batch jobs within the Rocket UniVerse platform
  • Provide operational support for database and infrastructure components tied to UniVerse
  • Collaborate with L3 engineering teams for issue resolution, bug fixes, and escalations
  • Partner with internal stakeholders by facilitating their support efforts and managing ticket workflows

REQUIRED COMPETENCIES AND SKILLS

  • Strong knowledge of hashed file structures, dictionaries, and indexing strategies
  • Proficiency in data migration, backup / restore, and performance tuning within UniVerse
  • Experience monitoring and managing batch jobs, cron jobs, or scheduling tools in Rocket platform
  • Familiarity with data governance, access control, and security best practices
  • Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills for database and infrastructure operations
  • Ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams (engineering, reporting, support)
  • Strong communication skills for supporting technical and non-technical stakeholders

    • REQUIRED EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • 4+ years of hands-on experience as a UniVerse Database Administrator (or similar Rocket UniVerse environment role)
  • Exposure to Rocket Software UniVerse tools and associated utilities
  • Experience supporting large-scale enterprise applications using UniVerse
  • Knowledge of ETL processes, reporting tools, or analytics platforms integrated with UniVerse
  • Prior experience in financial, telecom, or enterprise-grade environments a plus
