Position Description

Database Engineering

Trek’s Infrastructure Engineering team runs a hybrid estate spanning on‑prem SQL Server and Azure (including Azure SQL Database Hyperscale). We’re standardizing observability on Grafana + Loki, modernizing automation and CI / CD, and migrating selected databases across our environments. You’ll help operate, secure, and evolve these data platforms for mission‑critical apps (including BI / ERP / JDE and other enterprise systems).

This role is part of a collaborative cross-functional team that spans infrastructure engineering, development, and functional areas, and supports Trek’s global headquarters in Waterloo, WI .

Responsibilities

Operate & optimize databases

• Administer Microsoft SQL Server (on‑prem / Windows Server) and Azure SQL (Hyperscale and / or Managed Instance) across our environments
• Tune performance end‑to‑end (indexing, plan analysis, Query Store, waits, I / O) and deliver measurable improvements on targeted workloads.
• Manage capacity and cost (compute sizing, file layouts, storage growth, and backups / retention).
