About the Role

This role is a senior infrastructure support position requiring experience equivalent to departmental architects, combined with hands-on technical

expertise

• . Candidates in this role will

demonstrate

proficiency

in infrastructure support and maintenance while gaining a thorough understanding of all technologies within the department. The position involves mentoring junior team members, sharing knowledge across infrastructure teams, and playing a critical role in designing innovative infrastructure solutions.

Responsibilities

Collaborate with Technical Architects, providing technical designs and guidance for Infrastructure team members, ensuring sound decision-making.

Conduct infrastructure support and maintenance activities efficiently, including developing new infrastructure areas, resolving faults, and unit testing.

Understand the broader business needs and ensure systems align with and support these

objectives

Work with management to

establish

best practices for technology use, producing efficient, high-quality solutions.

Actively research innovative improvements in working practices, tools, and technologies for the Infrastructure Services team.

Contribute to the efficiency and quality of Infrastructure Services through collaboration and leadership.

Mentor and oversee junior staff while promoting cross-functional knowledge-sharing.

Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

A minimum of 10 years of database administration experience or equivalent.

Demonstrated skills in infrastructure design, support, and maintenance.

Experience automating database processes and delivering performance improvements.

Proficiency

in at least two database technologies (e.g., PostgreSQL, MSSQL, MariaDB, MySQL, Oracle).

Familiarity with cloud technologies such as AWS or Azure.

Experience using database version control tools like Flyway or Liquibase.

Proven ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex database connectivity and performance issues.

Database performance tuning

expertise

Understanding of DevOps practices and CI / CD systems (e.g., Jenkins, GitHub Actions).

Competence in scripting languages such as Bash, PowerShell, or Python.

Ability to analyze impacts of database-related infrastructure decisions.

Strong organizational, problem-solving, and collaboration skills.

Advanced communication skills, including tailoring information for diverse audiences.
