About the role and location
Based in Richmond Queensland, working with local council, this newly created 4-year apprenticeship is available for recent school leavers and juniors to apply. Richmond is a small community of 650 people, 500km west of Townsville. The town of Richmond is a hive of activity during the tourist season (April to October) and entertains annual community events, rodeos and races, providing a year-round of fun and entertainment.
Apprenticeship activities will include :
- Labouring duties, including digging trenches by hand and loading and unloading trucks
- Maintenance, repairs and installations of water and sewerage plumbing services including treatment systems
- Clear house sewerage blockages
- Assist the supervisor with maintenance of the Maxwelton water supply
- Service water meters
- Check fire hydrants
- Learn the plumbing trade and apply increasing knowledge and perform with less supervision over time, in accordance with the training and assessment requirements of the Certificate III in Plumbing course
The successful candidate will have a wide range of learning experience across the plumbing trade as the council is the only plumbing service in the town covering all facets of the towns needs such as; residential, commercial and Council properties.

Community Solutions is a non-for-profit organisation operating as a commercial business, providing apprentices and trainees to a variety of different businesses throughout the Sunshine Coast and Brisbane. We provide apprentices and trainees important career guidance and opportunity to earn while they learn. Dedicated Field Officers are assigned to apprentices and trainees to provide ongoing support to completing their chosen trade qualification.
