Functional Head - Power Plant

Job Purpose :

a)To plan, direct, monitor and review operation & maintenance of power generation processes for uninterrupted and economic power generation of 60 MW (2 x 30 MW) Captive Co-generation Power Plant within budgeted cost to meet quality power demand in full to Caustic Soda Plant as well as Value Added Products to achieve / exceed targets.

b)To plan, direct, monitor & review maintenance of Electrical and Control & Instrumentation of Caustic Soda Plant and Value Added Product plant within budgeted cost to ensure 100% availability & reliability of the equipment & Instruments for uninterrupted operation of Caustic & Value Added Product Plant.

c)To formulate CAPEX proposals and ensure implementation on time within budgeted cost after getting approval of the authority to improve plant efficiency & productivity through innovations & technological advancement.

d)Liaison with IBR authorities, Electrical inspectorate, State electricity Board, Standard Weights & Measure, Bureau of Energy Efficiency and concerned agencies to ensure compliance of statutory & regulatory requirements.

e)To create & ensure safe working environment in the functional areas.

f)As Chief Information Security Officer to identify, implement & monitor the control on risk faced due to dependence on information systems and information processing facilities.

Key Result Areas / Accountabilities :

1. Operations : 60 MW (2 x 30 MW) Cogeneration Power Plant : a) Plan, implement & monitor achievement of Power Generation targets within budgeted cost. b) Strive to achieve high productivity & bench marked operation efficiency c) Ensure optimum energy consumption - Lay down generation target and schedule. Review plant performance on daily basis. Ensure set operation parameters and consumption norms. Monitor timely preparation of daily / weekly / monthly reports. Co-ordinate with other functional heads for resource mobilization to optimum extent. To review cost drivers through MPR.

2. Maintenance of 60 MW (2 x 30 MW) Co-generation Power Plant and electrical & Instrumentation of 300 TPD Caustic Soda Plant, 40 TPD AlCl3 plant and 55 TPD SBP Plant : a) Ensure reliability & availability of Power Plant machinery and equipment's as well as Electrical & Instrumentation equipment's of Caustic Plant including VAP within budgeted cost through quality maintenance - Plan, monitor and review preventive / predictive maintenance schedules. Review and control of maintenance cost. Regular interaction with technology Suppliers / Vendors / Consultants / Industry peers for reducing costs. Ensure implementation of advanced maintenance management philosophy (RCM, MP Design etc.).

3. Maintenance : 60 MW (2 x 30 MW) Captive Co-generation Power Plant and electrical & Instrumentation of 300 TPD Caustic Soda Plant, 40 TPD AlCl3 plant and 55 TPD SBP Plant Ensure reliability & availability of Power and Caustic Plant including allied chemicals within budgeted cost through effective : Mechanical Maintenance of CPP Electrical Maintenance of CPP, CSP & VAPP. Control & Instrumentation Maintenance of CPP, CSP & VAPP - Plan, monitor and review preventive / predictive maintenance schedules. Review and control of maintenance cost. Regular interaction with technology Suppliers / Vendors / Consultants / Industry peers for reducing costs. Ensure implementation of advanced maintenance management philosophy (RCM, MP Design etc.).

4. Ensure implementation of BEE requirement like PAT (Perform, Achieve and trade) & Energy Conservation act 2001 - Monitor & review of SEC data on monthly basis. Innovations & technological advancement of the systems & machinery to reduce energy consumption Report submission on time to BEE.

5. CAPEX Proposals : Propose CAPEX for System up gradation / technological innovations or statutory compliances and ensure implementation after approval - storming session among the team members. Collect offers and work out capital cost estimates and returns as required. Get approval and ensure implementation on time within budgeted cost.

6. Safety, Environment & Statutory Requirements : Ensure safe working conditions, pollution free environment and management of statutory compliances. Identifying best safety practices. Train people to adopt these practices. Ensure statutory compliances. Liaison with Boiler Inspectorate, Electrical inspectorate, Jharkhand State Electricity Board, Standard Weights & Measures, BSNL and other Authorities etc.

7. System Management : Promote and ensure effective implementation of world class systems and their integration - Guide and provide resource for effective implementation of world class systems like WCM, ISO, etc. and review & monitor progress. Review and enhance operational systems and process. Exposure to new developments in systems.

8. Peoples Development :  Development of skill, motivated, performance oriented work force - Identify skill gaps. Structure training programme and monitor effectively. Implement agreed action plan for improving OHS. Identify and reward suitable person for exemplary work. Plan for career development of subordinates.
