The International Solar Alliance (ISA) is an intergovernmental organization of 125 Member Countries working to accelerate the deployment of solar energy to achieve universal energy access, energy security, and a sustainable, low-carbon future. Co-founded by India and France under the Paris Agreement, ISA serves as a platform for cooperation among solar rich nations to mobilize investments, build capacity, and promote innovation in solar energy deployment across the Global South. Its mission is to unlock solar investments by 2030, while reducing technology and financing costs. Through initiatives across agriculture, health, transport, and power generation, ISA Member Countries are driving change by shaping policies, sharing best practices, setting standards, and mobilizing investments.
Your New Role :
The Communications Specialist will provide strategic direction and oversight of execution across all communications, advocacy, outreach, media engagement, and brand positioning functions of the International Solar partnerships Alliance. The role will strengthen ISA’s global narrative, enhance visibility across Member Countries, and support the translation of ISA’s mission into compelling messaging that mobiliser action end.
Your Broader Scope of Work (including but not limited to) :
1. Strategic Communications Leadership :
- Design and implement an integrated communications, advocacy, and outreach strategy aligned with ISA’s institutional goals and priorities.
- Ensure clear and consistent messaging across all platforms and partner channels.
- Embed communication planning into program and project cycles to strengthen impact and visibility.
2. Institutional Knowledge & Content Repository :
Establish and maintain a central repository for ISA’s publications, reports, visual assets, and creative artefacts.Develop processes for systematic capture, storage, retrieval, and long-term preservation of institutional memory.3. Brand Identity & Custodianship :
Strengthen ISA’s visual and verbal identity to enhance global brand recognition.Develop, standardize, and roll out brand guidelines and toolkits for adoption across Member Countries and partner institutions.Serve as brand custodian to ensure quality, clarity, and compliance across all public facing outputs.4. Narrative Development & Editorial Oversight :
Lead editorial direction and storytelling to articulate ISA’s mission, impact, and leadership.Review and refine publications, knowledge products, case studies, toolkits, and outreach materials to ensure coherence and accessibility.Oversee production and dissemination cycles for weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual communications.5. Leadership Communications & Diplomacy Support :
Draft speeches, statements, briefing notes, talking points, thought pieces, and official correspondence for ISA leadership.Support preparation for high-level engagements, ministerial dialogues, and international visits.6. Digital Strategy & Public Engagement :
Oversee enhancement of ISA’s digital platforms (website, social media, newsletters).Develop data-driven digital campaigns that increase visibility, relevance, and engagement—particularly among youth and global public audiences.Build and manage a network of influencers and advocates to amplify ISA’s mission.7. Media Relations & Strategic Partnerships :
Cultivate strong working relationships with media organizations, communication agencies, and advocacy partners.Manage press engagement, proactive storytelling, reputational positioning, and responsive communication.Facilitate external partnerships that enhance ISA’s profile and outreach.8. Global Platforms, Events & Outreach Campaign :
Conceive and execute high-impact global and regional convenings, campaigns, and public dialogues on solar energy.Position ISA events as premier platforms for knowledge-sharing, partnership formation, and collaborative action.9. Capacity Building & Member Country Support :
Lead communication capacity-building, guidance, and peer-learning initiatives for Member Countries.Synthesize best practices and local learnings to support national-level communications strategies.What You Will Need to Succeed Required Education and Experience :
Master’s degree with a minimum of 15+ years of experience in strategic communications, public affairs, external relations, or media strategy at an international, multilateral, government, or global NGO level.Demonstrated experience managing brand identity, strategic messaging, and high impact communication campaigns.Proven ability to develop senior leadership communications (speeches, position papers, op-eds, briefings).Strong editorial, writing, and storytelling capability.Preferred :
Prior experience working in climate, sustainable development, energy, or multilateral diplomacy contexts.Global or multi-country stakeholder engagement experience.Ability to operate with tact, diplomacy, and cultural sensitivity.Core Competencies :
