You’ll be highly fluent and capable of dealing with a complex Access application (with hundreds of objects, forms, and several thousand lines of VBA code). You’ll be adept at picking up complex form / code, diving in to understand how things work and reworking / improving or building out new capabilities. You’ll assume day-to-day ownership, improve reliability / change control, and partner to migrate core data stores and selected algorithms from SharePoint / Access to SQL Server and into our Azure Synapse environment.
Responsibilities (Access database)
- Own day-to-day operations of the Access app (front end + back end) : forms, queries, reports, macros, and advanced VBA (class modules, error handling, logging).
- Diagnose / optimize existing code; refactor for performance and maintainability; reduce technical debt.
- Manage linked tables (within a SQL database in our Azure environment), implement pass-through queries, and tune for performance.
- Establish disciplined SDLC for Access : versioning (ACCDE builds), backup / restore, regression testing, change logs, documentation, and release checklists.
- Improve usability of forms and workflows for content managers.
