YOUR NEW ROLE, WHATS INVOLVED?

As a Overhead Line Lead, you will design of a range of Overhead Line Circuits at voltages ranging from 11kV to 400kV.

You will

Manage the team and processes to ensure the preparation and checking of documents, reports and other technical outputs / deliverables from a variety of Energy related disciplines meet internal and client requirements and quality assurance standards.

Provide highly visible, inspirational leadership and direction for the iCRC Energy team and ensuring that it is aligned with the wider UK Energy business

Monitor and review team capability in the use of the required standards, processes and software tools and, with technical colleagues, identify training required

Identify opportunities to upskill existing technical resources or recruit new capabilities to deliver additional services or enhance existing ones

Identify further skills that could be brought into the iCRC to deliver additional services or enhancements to various businesses

Promote the team's achievements within the team, Energy, WSP UK and the wider business via targeted profile raising activities

Ensuring that the Business Management System is implemented and maintained

Seek regular feedback on team performances, ensure any negative feedback is positively converted into opportunities for improvement

Develop / maintain excellent relationships ensuring repeat business and client satisfaction, internally and externally

Contribution to bids and marketing material

Contribute to the design of operational processes, systems, quality measurement processes and achievement of KPIs

Ensure process and governance such that all projects comply with relevant standards - Health and Safety, CDM and Quality Assurance etc

Carry out audits of adherence to WSP Management and Quality processes and implement corrective measures where required

Preparing, reviewing, and approving of transmission line tower & foundation design including associated documents and accessories

Preparing engineering documents related to transmission tower and foundation design.

Designing as per relevant codes and standards

Optimizing the overall weight of the tower and foundation with respect to tender quantity

Performing Sag tension calculation and providing the approximate weight of the tower at the tender stage

Designing of transmission tower, with the use of PLS Tower software for transmission line design.

Create all associated Engineering Design calculations and documentation.

Support the creation of all necessary material bill of quantity schedules.

Attend site meetings (virtual) and provide ongoing design drawing changes / support as required during project build.

Reviewing designs produced by suppliers and clients to ensure designs are technically compliant and in line with current legislation and policies.

Project Coordination :

Actively coordinates with all other internal / external team members on moderately complex projects.

Client Focus :

Responsible for assisting with identification of key client interests and drivers on moderately complex projects and may determine the key clients in some instances

Communicates client interests and drivers to project team members and develops approaches to accommodate these concerns in the performance of the work on moderately complex projects

WE’D LOVE TO HEAR FROM YOU IF YOU HAVE

Proven experience in the design of UK Overhead Line Circuits (Towers and / or Poles) at any voltage up to 400kV.

Bachelor’s in Civil / Structural or Electrical Engineering

Knowledge of all applicable engineering standards.

The ability to design with PLS- CADD, Tower or similar.
