JOB SUMMARY
This role will play a crucial role oversee and implement safety, health, and environmental initiatives across our organization and will be responsible for developing, enforcing, and continuously improving safety and environmental policies, procedures, and practices to ensure a safe and compliant workplace. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, a deep understanding of health, safety, and environmental regulations, and a commitment to promoting a culture of safety within the organization.
The role oversees the construction phase and subsequent regular production phase of our greenfield Gigafactory. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in managing HS&E operations in large-scale manufacturing or construction projects, with a specific focus on sustainability and green practices. This role requires exceptional leadership skills, a deep understanding of HS&E regulations and safety best practices, and the ability to drive a culture of safety and environmental responsibility.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Lead the CFT to ensure consistent practice and execution all safety standards to be followed without any compromises to protect employees and construction workers from any injuries.
- Conduct regular inspections and audits to identify potential hazards, assess risks, and implement appropriate corrective actions.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate HS&E considerations into the design, planning, and execution of construction activities.
- Oversee the development and implementation of emergency response plans, ensuring preparedness for potential incidents or accidents.
- Monitor and report on HS&E performance metrics, identifying areas for improvement and implementing strategies to drive continuous improvement.
- Stay up to date with emerging HS&E trends, regulations, and technologies, and proactively recommend innovative solutions to enhance safety and sustainability.
- Establish strong relationships with regulatory agencies, industry organizations, and community stakeholders to ensure compliance and foster positive partnerships.
- Transition into the regular production phase of the Gigafactory, adapting HS&E programs and processes to align with ongoing operations.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to develop and deliver HS&E training programs, ensuring all employees are equipped with the necessary knowledge and skills to maintain a safe and environmentally responsible workplace.
Knowledge, Skills and Experience
Essential :
Proven experience (at least 10 years) in managing HS&E operations in large-scale manufacturing or construction projects, preferably within the automotive or renewable energy industry.In-depth knowledge of HS&E regulations, standards, and best practices, including OSHA, EPA, and ISO 14001.Strong leadership skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate a team towards a common goal.Desired :
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively engage with stakeholders at all levels.Demonstrated experience in developing and implementing HS&E policies, procedures, and programs.Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a proactive approach to identifying and mitigating risks.Familiarity with sustainability practices and green building principles is highly desirable.Professional certifications such as CSP, CIH, or CHMM are a plus.Role Specific Qualifications / Certifications
Bachelor’s degree in occupational health and safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related field. A Master's degree is preferred.
