About the Role :
The Junior Consultant will be responsible for managing inpatient, outpatient, and critical care responsibilities, including patient evaluation, cardiac diagnostics (ECG, echocardiography), assisting in invasive procedures, and managing clinical documentation. The consultant works closely with senior cardiologists, multidisciplinary teams, patients, and families to ensure continuity of care while adhering to hospital protocols and professional standards.
Location : Sahyadri Narayana Multispeciality Hospital, Shimoga, Karnataka
Experience : 0 - 3 years of relevant clinical experience in Cardiology or Internal Medicine.
Qualification : MBBS / MD / DNB / DM / (Cardiology)
Key Responsibilities :
- Clinical Evaluation & Documentation – Conduct and document detailed patient history, physical examinations, formulate differential diagnoses, prepare daily progress notes, and discharge summaries.
- Patient Management – Develop, implement, and modify individualized care plans; order and interpret relevant laboratory, radiological, and hemodynamic investigations; prescribe medications and order blood transfusions as required.
- Cardiac Diagnostics – Perform and interpret echocardiography, ECGs, and other non-invasive cardiac assessments to support timely clinical decision-making.
- Critical Care Support – Monitor and interpret hemodynamic parameters in critically ill patients, perform CPR, endotracheal intubation, nasogastric intubation, and insert invasive lines under supervision.
- Cath Lab Assistance – Assist cardiologists in invasive procedures, independently perform basic Cath Lab procedures under supervision, and ensure adherence to safety and aseptic protocols.
- Patient Counseling & Consent – Obtain informed consent for procedures, provide patient and family education regarding diagnosis, treatment options, and prognosis, ensuring clear communication.
- Outpatient & Inpatient Care – Conduct OPDs in the absence of senior cardiologists, manage inpatient cases, coordinate with multidisciplinary teams, and ensure continuity of care.
- Collaboration & Compliance – Work under supervision of senior consultants, maintain accurate records, comply with hospital policies, and contribute to departmental academic and clinical discussions.
Skills Required :
Proven ability to conduct patient history, physical examinations, diagnoses, progress notes, and discharge summaries.Proficiency in performing and interpreting ECGs, echocardiography, laboratory, and radiology results, with experience in managing critically ill patients.Skilled in assisting and performing invasive procedures such as intubation, line insertions, and Cath Lab support under supervision.Strong ability to interact empathetically and clearly with patients, families, and multidisciplinary teams.Demonstrates reliability, attention to detail, and effective collaboration in high-pressure clinical environments.
