Position : R&D Manager – Liquor Manufacturing

Location : Hyderabad

Experience : Minimum 5 years in Alcohol / Spirits / Blending Industry

Job Summary :

We are seeking an experienced and innovative R&D Manager to lead Product Development, Blending, and Innovation for a reputed liquor manufacturing company based in Hyderabad.

The ideal candidate will have a proven background in alcoholic beverage formulation, blending, and new product development (NPD) with a deep understanding of flavor profiles, sensory evaluation, and regulatory standards. The role requires technical expertise combined with creative insight to deliver high-quality, market-relevant products.

Key Responsibilities :

  • Lead New Product Development (NPD) from concept to commercialization across categories such as whisky, vodka, rum, gin, and other spirits.
  • Drive formulation, blending, and flavor development ensuring product consistency and quality excellence.
  • Conduct market and sensory research to identify trends, flavors, and opportunities for innovation.
  • Oversee pilot trials, lab-scale experiments, and product testing for new blends and improvements.
  • Collaborate with production, quality, packaging, and marketing teams to ensure technical feasibility and brand alignment.
  • Ensure all formulations comply with excise laws, FSSAI regulations, and internal quality standards.
  • Evaluate and source raw materials, flavoring agents, and packaging inputs for quality and cost optimization.
  • Maintain comprehensive documentation, formulation records, and process SOPs.
  • Provide technical guidance to the operations team for scaling up R&D formulations to production level.
  • Continuously explore new technologies, ingredients, and processes to drive innovation in the liquor segment.

Candidate Profile :

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Food Technology, Chemistry, Fermentation Technology, or related field.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in R&D, blending, or product development within the liquor, distillery, or beverage industry.
  • Strong expertise in spirit formulation, blending, maturation, and sensory analysis.
  • Proven track record in new product launches and innovation projects.
  • In-depth understanding of regulatory and excise requirements in the alcohol industry.
  • Excellent analytical, creative, and project management skills.
  • Strong communication and cross-functional collaboration abilities.
