Engineer -Design / Assessment of Bridges

Your role

Perform structural design and assessment of bridges using established methodologies and tools.

Detail steel and concrete bridge structures and coordinate with the CAD team.

Prepare and review assessment documentation, including Form AA and BA reports.

Conduct load capacity evaluations and identify sub-standard structures.

Collaborate with senior engineers and project teams to recommend mitigation strategies.

Coordinate with external consultants and internal stakeholders to ensure timely and accurate delivery.

Maintain asset data and contribute to continuous improvement of assessment processes.

Support development of interim solutions and long-term asset strategies.

Participate in design coordination and interface management with other disciplines.

Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering.

Working towards Chartered or Incorporated Engineer status.

Experience with railway infrastructure projects.

Knowledge of materials including steel, concrete, masonry, and composite structures.

Familiarity with international design standards.

About you

Experience in civil or structural engineering, with a focus on bridge assessments.

Strong understanding of structural analysis and assessment techniques.

Familiarity with Network Rail standards and asset management systems.

Proficiency in engineering software (e.g., MIDAS, LUSAS, AutoCAD, Excel).

Ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications.

Excellent communication and report-writing skills.

Detail-oriented with strong analytical skills.

Proactive and collaborative team player.

Able to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines under pressure.
