Job Description :

Software Requirements

Proven expertise in Teradata database systems, including installation, configuration, and optimization.
Strong understanding of Teradata utilities, tools, and utilities such as BTEQ, FAST Load, MultiLoad, TPump, and Parallel Transport.
Knowledge of SQL query tuning, indexing, and database performance optimization.
Familiarity with data warehousing concepts and ETL processes.
Experience with scripting languages (e.g., Python, Shell scripting) for automation tasks.
Basic knowledge of other database systems like Oracle, SQL Server is a plus.

Overall Responsibilities

Develop, design, and optimize SQL scripts and queries for data extraction, transformation, and loading (ETL).

Collaborate with business analysts and data engineers to understand data requirements and translate them into technical solutions.

Monitor and troubleshoot database performance issues, ensuring high availability and efficiency.

Implement best practices for data security, integrity, and compliance.

Maintain detailed documentation of all technical developments and configurations.

Participate in code reviews, team meetings, and project planning activities.

Category-wise Technical Skills

Database & SQL Skills :

Extensive experience in Teradata SQL and query optimization.

Proficient in stored procedures, macros, user-defined functions, and triggers.

Knowledge of collect statistics, explain plan, and partitioning strategies.

ETL & Data Integration :

Hands-on experience with ETL tools like Informatica, Talend, or DataStage integrated with Teradata.

Ability to design and implement efficient data pipelines and transformations.

Scripting & Automation :

Shell scripting, Python, or other scripting tools for automating repetitive tasks.

Tools & Utilities :

Teradata Utilities (FastLoad, MultiLoad, TPT, BTEQ).

Database backup and recovery procedures.

Version control tools like Git.

Additional Technologies (Optional) :

Hadoop, Spark, or cloud data platforms like AWS / Azure (if applicable).

Experience

5 to 7 years of hands-on experience as a Teradata Developer.

Proven track record of working on large-scale data warehousing projects.

Experience with both on-premise and cloud environments is a plus.

Day-to-Day Activities

Write and optimize SQL queries and stored procedures.

Collaborate with cross-functional teams for data modeling and analysis.

Monitor database health and performance metrics.

Troubleshoot and resolve database-related issues.

Automate routine tasks and reports.

Participate in design discussions and provide technical guidance.

Maintain documentation and best practices.

Qualification

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related fields.

Certifications in Teradata or related data management technologies are a plus.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Proactive attitude and willingness to learn new technologies.
