About the Role
We are seeking a passionate and hands-on Design Educator to lead creative learning and innovation experiences in our Makerspace. The ideal candidate will foster design thinking, prototyping, and interdisciplinary problem-solving among students through experiential learning. This role blends education, mentorship, and technical expertise in design and fabrication.
Key Responsibilities
Teaching & Facilitation
Design and deliver workshops, studio sessions, and short courses in areas such as design thinking, rapid prototyping, user-centered design, and digital fabrication.Mentor students on individual and team-based maker projects, guiding them from idea to prototype.Integrate design and making into academic programs through collaborative modules with faculty.Foster a culture of creativity, experimentation, and safe use of tools and equipment.Makerspace Management
Oversee daily operations of the makerspace, ensuring a safe, inclusive, and well-organized environment.Maintain and manage prototyping tools and equipment (e.g., 3D printers, laser cutters, CNC routers, electronics kits, hand tools).Support students and faculty in using digital and physical fabrication tools.Develop and enforce safety protocols, training modules, and operational guidelines.Community & Collaboration
Build a vibrant maker community through events, challenges, exhibitions, and showcases.Collaborate with internal teams, industry partners, and visiting experts to co-create learning experiences.Inspire curiosity, design literacy, and hands-on problem-solving across disciplines.Education & Qualifications
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Design, Product Design, Industrial Design, Architecture, Engineering, or related fields.4–7 years of experience in design education, creative learning, or makerspace management.Proven experience mentoring students or teams in creative or technical projects.Strong hands-on proficiency with fabrication tools (3D printing, laser cutting, woodworking, electronics, etc.).Certification from FabLab or an equivalent recognized program is required.Skills & Attributes :
Deep understanding of design processes and creative pedagogy.Proficiency with digital design tools.Excellent communication and facilitation skills.Enthusiastic about experiential learning and interdisciplinary collaboration.Committed to fostering inclusivity, sustainability, and curiosity-driven making.Skills Required
