Job Title : DB2 Systems & Database Administrator

Experience : 8–10 Years

Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced DB2 Systems & Database Administrator to manage, optimize, and support our DB2 database environments. The role requires strong expertise in DB2 administration (LUW / z / OS as applicable) , performance tuning, high availability, backup / recovery strategies, and troubleshooting critical production issues.

Key Responsibilities

Install, configure, upgrade, and maintain DB2 database systems .
Perform database performance monitoring, tuning, and optimization .
Manage backup, recovery, disaster recovery (DR), and high availability solutions.
Implement and enforce database security, user access control, and compliance standards .
Work closely with application teams to support database design, query optimization, and schema changes .
Troubleshoot and resolve database incidents, outages, and performance issues .
Develop and maintain DBA documentation, standard operating procedures, and best practices .
Support automation initiatives for DB2 administration and monitoring.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams for capacity planning and system upgrades .

Required Skills & Qualifications

8–10 years of hands-on experience in DB2 database administration (LUW and / or z / OS).

Strong expertise in performance tuning, query optimization, and troubleshooting .

Experience with HADR, Data Sharing, and replication technologies .

Proficiency in backup / recovery strategies, DR planning, and execution .

Solid understanding of database security, roles, and privileges .

Hands-on experience with scripting (Shell / Perl / Python) and automation tools .

Knowledge of OS-level concepts (Linux / Unix / Windows) related to DB2.

Strong problem-solving and analytical skills with ability to work in 24x7 production environments .

Excellent communication and collaboration skills.

Good to Have

Exposure to cloud database services (AWS, Azure, GCP) .

Knowledge of other RDBMS (Oracle, SQL Server, PostgreSQL) .

Experience with DevOps / CI-CD integration for databases.
