Job Summary : The Quality Control Engineer will be responsible for supporting quality control and assurance processes in Manufacturing / Fabrication of steel / Structures, including steel structures, bridges. The role involves conducting inspections, maintaining quality records, ensuring compliance with industry standards, and assisting in audits to uphold WBIPL’s commitment to excellence in construction and manufacturing.
Key Responsibilities :
1. Quality Inspection & Testing :
- Conduct routine inspections of raw materials, fabrication processes, and finished products to ensure compliance with company standards.
- Perform basic material testing for concrete, steel, and geotechnical components as per IS codes and project specifications.
- Assist in non-destructive testing (NDT), welding inspections, and surface treatment checks.
- Document and report quality deviations, defects, and corrective actions.
2. Compliance & Documentation :
Ensure that all construction activities comply with Indian Standards (IS), IRC, ASTM, and ISO 9001 quality guidelines.Maintain quality records, test reports, and inspection logs for audits and reference.Assist in internal and external audits related to quality management systems.Support the Quality Manager in preparing quality assurance plans, work procedures, and reports.3. Coordination & Process Improvement :
Coordinate with the production, fabrication, and site teams to resolve quality issues.Assist in implementing corrective and preventive actions (CAPA) for identified defects.Provide feedback and suggestions to improve quality control processes.Participate in quality training sessions to enhance team awareness of best practices.Qualifications & Skills :
Education :
Diploma / B.E. in Mechanical Engineering, or Quality Management.Certification in ISO 9001, NDT, or QA / QC practices is a plus.Experience :
2-4 years of experience in quality assurance / quality control in Heavy engineering, steel fabrication, or infrastructure projects.Experience with bridges, structural steel works, or railway track components is preferred.Technical Skills :
Knowledge of quality standards such as IS codes, IRC, ASTM, and ISO 9001.Familiarity with quality testing methods for steel, concrete, and geotechnical materials.Proficiency in MS Office, AutoCAD (preferred), and quality management tools.
