Job Description : Technical Application Specialist – MISSO Surgical Robot

Position : Technical Application Specialist

Department : Surgical Robotics – MISSO

Location : Vapi / On-site (with frequent travel to hospitals & demo sites)

Reporting To : Head – Autonomous & Surgical Robotics

Position Overview

The Technical Application Specialist will serve as the clinical and technical bridge between Meril’s MISSO Surgical Robot technology and its end users, including surgeons, clinical staff, and hospital administrators. This role is responsible for delivering high-quality system demonstrations, supporting surgical procedures, providing application training, and ensuring seamless adoption of robotic-assisted surgical workflows.

The specialist will work closely with the R&D, Clinical, Service, and Commercial teams to drive customer satisfaction, enhance surgeon experience, and contribute to continuous product improvement.

Key Responsibilities

1. Clinical & Technical Support

  • Provide comprehensive on-site support for MISSO robotic-assisted surgeries and ensure smooth execution of procedures.
  • Assist surgeons and OT staff in system setup, calibration, and intraoperative troubleshooting.
  • Ensure adherence to safety protocols, sterilization standards, and device handling guidelines.

2. Training & Application Excellence

  • Conduct hands-on training for surgeons, nursing teams, biomedical engineers, and hospital staff.
  • Deliver structured training modules, simulation sessions, and competency assessments.
  • Support installation, integration, and onboarding of new MISSO systems at hospital sites.
  • 3. Demonstrations & Customer Engagement

  • Execute system demonstrations for potential customers, medical conferences, workshops, and KOL meetings.
  • Communicate complex technical features in clear, user-friendly language.
  • Collect customer feedback and relay insights to the product and R&D teams.
  • 4. Product Expertise & Documentation

  • Act as the subject-matter expert for MISSO software, hardware, instrumentation, and workflow.
  • Maintain accurate documentation related to training, service logs, usage patterns, and case reports.
  • Support regulatory, clinical evaluation, and quality teams with data inputs as needed.
  • 5. Cross-functional Collaboration

  • Work with sales teams to drive successful product adoption and post-sales engagement.
  • Coordinate with engineering teams for field issues, upgrades, and software releases.
  • Participate in internal trials, validation sessions, and new feature testing.
  • Desired Candidate Profile

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Biomedical Engineering, Electronics, Robotics, Mechatronics, or related fields.
  • 1–2 years of experience in medical devices, surgical robotics, minimally invasive surgery, imaging, or similar high-end capital equipment.
  • Strong understanding of clinical workflows, OT environment, and MIS procedures.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to travel extensively and handle high-pressure clinical situations.
  • Passion for technology, problem-solving, and surgeon-facing responsibilities.
