About the Role – Program Manager, AI Cohort

AFI is looking for a Program Manager to lead its AI-focused accelerator cohort, designed to support

early to growth-stage social enterprises leveraging Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML)

for social good. This role is ideal for a proactive, detail-oriented professional with a strong grasp of AI

technologies and their real-world applications in sectors such as healthcare, education, agriculture,

financial inclusion, and climate action. You will oversee the end-to-end execution of the AI Cohort

Program, which empowers startups building AI-driven solutions like diagnostic tools, adaptive learning

platforms, precision agriculture systems, fintech innovations, and climate monitoring technologies. In

this role, you will connect with various high potential AI startups, industry experts as mentors and

advisors and jury panels. Experience in managing innovation programs and working closely with tech

startups is essential. This is a high-impact opportunity at the intersection of AI and social impact.

Key Responsibilities :

1. Program Leadership & Execution :

Oversee the complete lifecycle of the AI Cohort Program, including planning, execution, and

evaluation. This involves structuring the program specifically to support startups leveraging

Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML) for social impact, with defined timelines,

milestones, and success metrics aligned to AI innovation goals.

2. AI Startup Selection & Support :

Identify and onboard high-potential AI-driven social enterprises working in critical sectors such

as healthcare, education, agriculture, financial inclusion, and climate action. Provide tailored

guidance to help these AI-focused startups refine their technology, scale their solutions, and

amplify their impact.

3. AI Mentor & Expert Network Engagement :

Build and manage a curated network of AI experts, data scientists, ML researchers, and

domain-specific advisors. Facilitate strategic and outcome-oriented engagements between these

experts and the cohort startups to enhance their AI capabilities and problem-solving

approaches.

4. AI-Focused Events & Content Creation :

Organize both virtual and in-person events—such as AI-centric workshops, demo days, and

panel discussions—that focus on the application of AI for social good. Develop compelling

content, impact reports, and promotional materials that showcase the program’s contributions

to the AI for impact landscape.

5. Strategic Collaboration, Fundraising & AI Advocacy :

Collaborate with internal teams and external partners to secure funding, develop proposals, and

manage budgets for the AI Cohort. Advocate for AI-driven innovation in social enterprises and

build partnerships that can advance the responsible and inclusive use of AI in solving India’s

pressing challenges.

Key Skills & Competencies :

6. Good understanding of deep technical areas including AI / ML and their applicability to sectors

like healthcare, education, agriculture, and climate.

7. Ability to evaluate AI-driven startups for technical feasibility and business scalability, especially

in early to growth stages.

8. Proven track record in managing tech-focused programs within accelerators, incubators, or

startup ecosystems.Experience in running AI focussed programs is a definite plus

9. Strong network-building skills with experience engaging AI experts, data scientists, and strategic

partners.

10. Excellent communication, documentation, and digital tool proficiency (Google Workspace,

Trello, Asana), with adaptability to fast-paced, impact-oriented environments.

11. Ability to work through nebulous scenarios and come up with creative solutions.

Preferred Qualifications :

• Bachelor’s / Master’s degree in Engineering, Technology, Business, or a related field; coursework

or certifications in AI / ML is a plus
