Position Title : Compliance Specialist – Affordable Housing (LIHTC)

Location : Remote (Based in India, supporting California projects)

Work Schedule : Full-time | Must be available to work in Pacific Standard Time (PST) overlap hours

Reports To : Compliance Manager

About the Role

We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Compliance Specialist to support our affordable housing portfolio in California. The role involves reviewing and verifying Low-Income Housing Tax Credit (LIHTC) applications and related documents before submission for third-party approval. The ideal candidate will have prior experience with LIHTC compliance and a strong understanding of federal and state housing program requirements.

Key Responsibilities

Review LIHTC tenant files and applications for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with program guidelines.

Verify income, assets, household composition, and eligibility documentation.

Identify and resolve discrepancies or missing information before forwarding files for third-party review and approval.

Communicate with leasing and property management teams to ensure compliance with California-specific regulations.

Maintain organized digital records and compliance checklists for each project.

Support internal audits and assist in responding to compliance-related inquiries.

Stay updated on regulatory changes related to LIHTC and affordable housing programs.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in business administration, Finance, Real Estate, or a related field.

Minimum 5 years of experience in affordable housing compliance, preferably with LIHTC programs.

Strong understanding of income verification, tenant eligibility, and compliance review processes.

Excellent attention to detail and analytical skills.

Proficient in Microsoft Office and affordable housing / property management software (e.g., Yardi, Boston Post, or similar).

Ability to work remotely and collaborate effectively with U.S.-based teams.

Comfortable working during PST overlap hours .

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with California Tax Credit Allocation Committee (CTCAC) compliance standards.

Knowledge of HUD, Section 8, or other affordable housing programs.
