Injection Mold Design Engineer (CATIA – Plastic Tooling)

About the Role
We are looking for experienced Plastic Injection Tool Designers with deep hands-on expertise in injection mold design for plastic components. The ideal candidate must be highly proficient in CATIA V5 / V6 , capable of executing complete mold designs independently, and well-versed in DFM, DFA, DFMEA , and mold feasibility analysis .
Key Responsibilities
- Design and develop 2D / 3D plastic injection molds , components, and complete tool assemblies using CATIA V5 / V6 .
- Perform detailed DFM / DFA / DFMEA studies for manufacturability, reliability, and quality assurance.
- Evaluate product geometry for parting lines, draft angles, undercuts, gating, wall thickness , and venting.
- Create core & cavity designs , cooling circuits , ejector layouts , mold layouts , and BOMs .
- Conduct mold feasibility and packaging studies to ensure dimensional accuracy and assembly compatibility.
- Lead and participate in design reviews with international customers;
apply feedback efficiently.
Maintain complete design documentation including EOAT studies, feasibility reports, and revision logs .Support tool validation and tryout activities;troubleshoot design-related issues and propose engineering solutions.
Contribute to continuous improvement in tool design, focusing on performance, quality, and longevity.Qualifications & Skills
Diploma / Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Tool Design, or Plastic Engineering (CIPET / IGTR / NTTF preferred).5–15 years of dedicated experience in plastic injection mold design .Strong command of CATIA V5 / V6 – Part, Assembly, Surface, and Mold Tooling workbenches.Deep understanding of plastic materials , mold construction , and injection molding processes .Familiar with GD&T, DFM / DFA / DFMEA, and Moldflow or similar analysis tools .Excellent problem-solving, communication, and project-handling skills.Capable of managing multiple international tooling projects with minimal supervision.Knowledge of North American / European mold design standards will be an added advantage.Preferred Experience
Exposure to automotive, consumer, or industrial plastic components .Experience in mold validation, vendor interaction , and complete project lifecycle documentation.Understanding of packaging and export-tooling design considerations .How to Apply
