We are looking for an Engineering Manager who can lead team of passionate engineers and drive architecture design, implementation and delivery of highly scalable. Given the role that an EM plays at Urban Ladder, starting from technical strategy to Product and engineering innovation to Execution, the engineering manager is one of the highest impact roles. We bring in best practices from startup world to software and use that to our advantage; we are strong proponents of engineering excellence and are constantly looking to improve.
Over the past couple of years, we have invested in incorporating best practices such as design reviews, writing DRY code, and a metrics-based approach, and agile development. We are looking for people who would value this approach and believe in clean, performant, and secure solutions powering the business and someone who thrives in a complex and ambiguous environment.
We are looking for a manager who enjoys working in the entire stack as there are opportunities in both the backend & UI space.
Roles and Responsibilities :
- Manage a software engineering team that designs and implements highly scalable and performant applications.
- Collaborate with Business and product teams to develop a long-term product roadmap, streamline and own product planning and release cycles.
- Handle multiple competing priorities and ambiguity - all in a high growth environment.
- Troubleshoot unseen issues across systems. Solves large end to end cross-cutting problems with elegant solutions and an eye on long-term sustainability.
- Raise the bar on technical excellence, show thought leadership, and communicate well to different audiences.
- Represent the technical organization and evangelize the work to senior leadership.
- Provide supervision, mentoring and development opportunities for associates who report.
- Create processes to help teams improve and design / iterate frameworks to measure engineering metrics.
- Hire engineers as required. Understand the strengths and weaknesses of each team member and provide opportunities for your team learn and grow.
Desired Skills and Functional Experience :
Prior experience in building high-performance, highly-available and scalable distributed systems.Experience with employee development, performance management and delivering results.Ability to liaison with internal and external stakeholders and partners.At-least 5 years of relevant development and design experience.Passion for quality and attention to detail.A go-getter attitude with oceans of optimism, humility, and self-motivation.Drive, curiosity, and a passion for doing the right thing
