About Thyne
Thyne is a brand dedicated to crafting elegant, custom jewelry. We blend artistry with technical precision, and we’re looking for a CAD specialist who can turn sketches and concepts into manufacturable 3D models.
Role Overview
You’ll translate design sketches, mood boards, and conceptual ideas into detailed CAD models for rings, pendants, earrings, bracelets, and custom pieces. Your work will feed directly into prototyping, 3D printing, casting, and final production.
Responsibilities
- Create precise 3D CAD models ready for production : stones, prongs, settings, engravings.
- Work from hand sketches, digital illustrations, or design briefs and convert to CAD.
- Apply best practices for manufacturability : wall thickness, clearance, tolerance, casting ducts.
- Render realistic previews or technical views for approval (lighting, materials).
- Collaborate with design team, manufacturing, and casting vendors to iterate.
- Troubleshoot issues at sample or mold stage, revise models accordingly.
- Maintain and update a CAD library of components (shanks, bezels, bounds).
- Keep track of revisions, manage version control, and maintain clean file organization.
Skills & Experience (You’ll be great at this if you have)
Proficiency in jewelry CAD software , e.g. Rhino + Matrix, ZBrush, JewelCAD, 3Design, or similar.Strong understanding of gems, prong types, settings, pavé, beadwork, casting constraints.Experience in converting concepts to 3D for small, intricate forms.Ability to produce both conceptual renders and manufacturing-ready files (STL, STEP).Good eye for geometry, symmetry, detail—and the balance between aesthetics and function.Experience with rendering tools (KeyShot, V-Ray, Blender) is a plus.Prior jewelry manufacturing experience is highly preferred.Attention to detail, patience, strong spatial reasoning, and problem-solving mindset.Nice to Have
Skills in gem-cut and stone library setups.Knowledge of engraving, filigree, lattice, and advanced ornamental details.Working experience with 3D printing, resin prototypes, and casting processes.Familiarity with materials like silver, gold, platinum, and their tolerances.Basic knowledge of CAD-to-CAM workflow, tooling, CNC, or milling. What Success Looks Like
Clean, manufacturable CAD models delivered on time, with minimal revisions.Reduced model to cast time by clear designs and fewer errors.Smooth handoff between design → prototyping → casting.Contribution to design innovation, suggesting shapes or techniques.Well-organized CAD libraries and version control practices. What We Offer
Creative freedom and direct impact on brand collectionsCollaborative team with design + production synergyLearning opportunities (workshops, materials, new techniques)Competitive salary / contract ratePotential for growth into senior design, creative direction rolesApplication
