Role Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced MEP Quantity Surveyor to support cost estimation activities for mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) systems within building projects in Singapore. The role involves working closely with MEP engineers and Project Manager to provide accurate cost advice, prepare estimates, variation cost evaluation and support value engineering efforts throughout the project lifecycle.
Responsibilities
- Produce project performance information, collating benchmark data, case studies and project profiles.
- Identify principal risks and opportunities, raise awareness, address and resolve problems at project level.
- Support the project delivery team in the SG and maintain a schedule of potential financial implications for the various projects.
- Prepare detailed cost estimates for MEP systems (HVAC, electrical, ELV and security, lift & escalator, plumbing & sanitary, fire protection, BMS etc.) at various design stages.
- Analyze drawings, specifications, and other project documents to quantify materials and labor requirements.
- Collaborate with MEP engineers and Project Manager to align cost plans with design intent and technical requirements.
- Conduct market research to benchmark costs and update unit rates.
- Support tender evaluations and provide cost comparisons for MEP packages.
- Assist in value engineering exercises to optimize cost without compromising functionality or compliance.
- Monitor cost changes and provide impact assessments during design development.
- Prepare cost reports and presentations for internal and client review.
- Prepare MEP variation cost estimates to support the preparation and issuance of variation orders to the Main and MEP contractors.
- Ensure compliance with relevant codes, standards, and client requirements.
- Evaluation of MEP variation costs submitted by the Main and MEP contractors with preparation of progress and status reports.
- Prepare final account of MEP systems summarizing base contract and variation costs after full evaluation.
- Attend meetings with Singapore teams on tender and project cost estimates, MEP variation cost evaluation etc.
- Actively participate and support the bidding and tender opportunities as required and contribute to the continued growth of the office through development of staff in India.
Key Competencies / Skills
Mandatory
Proven track record of working on the delivery of high value construction projects in Singapore or internationallyBachelor’s degree in Quantity Surveying, Mechanical / Electrical Engineering, or related field.Qualified or working towards, MRICS.Proficiency in cost estimation software (e.g., CostX, Bluebeam, Excel).Experience with BIM-based quantity take-off and estimationStrong understanding of MEP systems and construction methodologies.Excellent analytical, communication, and stakeholder management skills.Experience on International method of measurements like SMM7, NRM, POMIAble to communicate well in English with a high level of oral and written English expected.Happy to work with teams in the Singapore and able to foster collaborative relationships from a distance utilising collaboration tools such as Teams.Desirable
Exposure to multinational consultancy work environment is an added advantageMembership in a professional body (e.g., RICS, AIQS, SISV).Knowledge of sustainability and energy-efficient MEP solutions.Knowledge of specialist MEP systems for data centre and healthcare facilities.Qualifications
Minimum 5 years of experience in MEP cost estimation, preferably within a consultancy environment
