Head of Science IB

We’re Hiring :  Lead Science teacher

A well-established international school in

Varanasi

is seeking a

Lead Science Teacher

with a strong background in the

Cambridge (CAIE)

and / or

International Baccalaureate (IB)

curriculum. The ideal candidate will guide and inspire our

Primary School Team

through

inquiry-based, hands-on scientific learning , mentor fellow educators, and foster a spirit of

curiosity, innovation, and critical thinking

among students.

Key Responsibilities :

Lead the design, implementation, and continuous improvement of a cohesive, concept-driven Science curriculum aligned with

IB PYP

and / or

Cambridge Primary (CAIE)

frameworks.

Model and promote

inquiry-based, experiential learning

approaches that foster scientific thinking, curiosity, and problem-solving among students.

Coach and mentor Science and homeroom teachers in effective inquiry pedagogy, unit planning, assessment design, and differentiation strategies.

Ensure vertical and horizontal alignment of Science learning outcomes across grade levels, and facilitate

interdisciplinary and transdisciplinary connections

with other subject areas.

Oversee the development and moderation of

formative and summative assessments

that reflect IB / CAIE expectations and measure conceptual understanding and scientific inquiry skills.

Lead initiatives to enhance teaching and learning through

STEM / STEAM integration , digital tools, lab-based inquiry, and real-world application of scientific concepts.

Organize and facilitate internal workshops, collaborative planning sessions, and continuous professional development aligned with

IB / CAIE philosophy and standards .

Collaborate with the academic leadership team to uphold the school’s vision for excellence in Science education and contribute to whole-school improvement initiatives.

Qualification and Experience :

Master’s or Bachelor's degree in

Science

(Physics, Chemistry, Biology, or General Science) or

Education with Science specialization .

B.Ed or equivalent professional teaching certification or license is preferred.

Formal training in

IB PYP

and / or

Cambridge (CAIE) Primary Science

curriculum is highly desirable.

5+ years of teaching experience

in Primary Science, preferably in

international or IB / CAIE schools .

Demonstrate experience in

curriculum planning, assessment design, and instructional leadership .

Proven track record of

mentoring teachers

and leading

team-based projects .

Experience in

integrating inquiry-based learning, STEM / STEAM, and interdisciplinary approaches

into classroom practice.
