Switching Engineer – Junior

Location :

North Bangalore, India

Experience : 4–6 Years

Job Summary :

We are seeking a Switching Engineer (Junior Level) with 4–6 years of experience in managing and maintaining enterprise-level network switching infrastructure. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in configuring, troubleshooting, and optimizing network switches, VLANs, and routing protocols to ensure high availability and performance. This role requires strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a focus on operational excellence and continuous network improvement.

Roles & Responsibilities :

  • Configure, implement, and maintain Layer 2 and Layer 3 switching solutions (Cisco, Juniper, or equivalent).
  • Perform switch installations, upgrades, and patch management.
  • Manage VLAN configurations, trunking, spanning tree, and EtherChannel setup.
  • Monitor network performance, identify bottlenecks, and resolve connectivity issues.
  • Troubleshoot hardware and software network issues related to switches and routers.
  • Collaborate with Network Architects and Senior Engineers to optimize network design and scalability.
  • Participate in incident response and root cause analysis for network outages.
  • Maintain detailed network documentation including topology diagrams and configuration records.
  • Ensure compliance with security and operational standards.
  • Support network automation and monitoring tools to improve efficiency.

Required Skills & Qualifications :

  • 4–6 years of hands-on experience in network switching and routing.
  • Strong understanding of Layer 2 / 3 networking protocols such as STP, RSTP, VLANs, trunking, OSPF, BGP, and EIGRP.
  • Experience with Cisco IOS / NX-OS or equivalent switching platforms.
  • Familiarity with network monitoring tools (SolarWinds, Nagios, or similar).
  • Knowledge of troubleshooting tools like Wireshark, Ping, and Traceroute.
  • Understanding of network security principles , ACLs, and QoS.
  • Good documentation and communication skills.
  • Ability to work in 24x7 or rotational support environment (if applicable).

    • Preferred / Nice to Have :

  • CCNA or CCNP (Switching / Routing) certification.
  • Exposure to network automation tools (Python, Ansible).
  • Experience with data center switching and SDN technologies .
  • Basic understanding of firewalls, load balancers , and wireless networking .

    • Educational Qualification :

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Electronics & Communication , or a related field.
