Role Overview
We are looking for a hands-on Technical Architect with deep expertise in the Banking & Payments domain . This is not an “arms-chair” architecture role – we seek a problem solver who rolls up sleeves to design, troubleshoot, and deliver highly resilient, scalable, and secure payment platforms for global banks.
Key Responsibilities
Drive technical architecture and design for payment solutions across domestic and international clearing systems (RTGS, SWIFT, ACH, etc.).
Lead production support architecture – ensuring performance, resilience, and 24×7 availability of mission-critical banking platforms.
Partner with delivery, infra, and client stakeholders to ensure NFRs (Security, Performance, Resilience) are embedded into design and delivery.
Act as the technical escalation point during go-lives and production incidents; deep dive into application, database, and infra layers to resolve issues.
Guide engineering teams in applying best practices in Java, API, microservices, and database optimization .
Work closely with Cloud teams (AWS, Azure) to design deployment architectures, understand nuances of each cloud model, and optimize for cost, scale, and resilience.
Represent Intellect in client technical discussions, defending architecture choices and problem-solving with senior bank management .
Travel onsite for short stints during critical phases (go-lives, performance tuning, migration, etc.).
Must-Have Skills
Banking / Payments Expertise – deep understanding of payment systems, message formats (SWIFT, ISO20022), and clearing mechanisms.
Production Support Experience – ability to analyze live issues across app, DB, and infra layers.
NFR Expertise – Security, Performance, Resilience design principles.
Hands-on Java & Database Skills – capable of debugging, performance tuning (AWR, pg_stat), and resolving complex tech issues directly.
Excellent Communication – able to engage confidently with customers, infra architects, and senior management.
Cloud Deployment Models – AWS, Azure, hybrid architectures.
Customer-Facing Experience – prior exposure to onsite engagements, especially during go-lives and production rollouts.
Preferred Attributes
Experience with microservices architecture , API gateways , and containerization (Docker / Kubernetes) .
Strong understanding of observability, monitoring, and DevOps pipelines .
Exposure to modernization of legacy payment systems .
