Rang De (www.rangde.in) is a fintech startup that aims to revolutionize credit access for underserved communities by connecting individual lenders and borrowers together, cutting out the need for an intermediary, and offering highly customized and affordable loans than traditional lenders.

Having pioneered the model in India in 2008, Rang De's purpose built technology platform has proved to be game changing for providing timely access to credit for thousands of farmers and entrepreneurs. We recently pivoted into an NBFC-P2P and have a highly differentiated model from other peer-to-peer lending platforms.

We are a small team with big dreams and are seeking highly talented and experienced individuals to join us in this crucial role for expanding our impact and driving meaningful change in underserved communities.

Role :   Project Director, Financial Inclusion

Work mode : Remote (based in Patna with travel within Bihar)

Function : Impact & Innovation

Role Overview :

Rang De drives large-scale social impact by partnering with grassroots organizations, government programmes, and community institutions that work directly with unbanked communities. In Bihar, Rang De is collaborating with community-based organizations to enable formal credit access for these underserved populations.

This role offers a unique opportunity to work closely with women-led community institutions and align efforts with key government initiatives. As a Project Director - Financial Inclusion, you will play a pivotal role in implementing and managing Rang De’s financial inclusion initiatives on the ground, ensuring that communities gain sustainable access to affordable credit and financial literacy.

Responsibilities :

  • Engage with community institutions such as SHGs, VOs, and CLFs to facilitate access to formal credit and strengthen financial inclusion initiatives.
  • Collaborate with partner organizations and government initiatives like the SRLM to understand community contexts, ongoing interventions, and key challenges, and co-create tailored financial solutions.
  • Design and strengthen systems and processes by providing techno-managerial support, capacity building, and guidance to ensure effective implementation of credit programmes.
  • Monitor, track, and report progress regularly to the central operations team, project funders and Government stakeholders ensuring smooth execution, timely interventions, and alignment with programme objectives.
  • Foster and maintain strong partnerships with community institutions, partner organizations, and relevant government stakeholders to enhance programme impact and sustainability.
  • Document learnings and best practices from the field, including data, case studies, and photographs, to support impact reporting and knowledge sharing across partners and programmes.

Requirements :

  • 8+ years of experience with at least 6 years of experience working in the social sector
  • Must have handled multiple stakeholders like NGOs, CSOs, Govt functionaries
  • Exceptional problem-solving and advisory skills, strong presentation and data analytical abilities
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to communicate complex ideas effectively
  • Prior experience in project management in the social sector
  • Self-driven, high-energy, curious and adaptable personality with the ability to produce high quality (entrepreneurial mindset)
  • Degree in MBA / MSW or other social science subjects
