About the Role :

We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented

Data Steward and Analyst

to drive metadata standardization and data ownership across enterprise systems. This role will be responsible for defining, maintaining, and enriching metadata assets including business glossaries, data dictionaries, and ownership hierarchies. The ideal candidate will collaborate with business and technical stakeholders to enhance data discoverability, trust, and compliance.

Hands-on experience to implement, configure, and maintain Data Governance tools is essential, with preference given to those familiar with

Ab Initio (preferred), Informatica, Talend, Atlan, Databricks, or Snowflake .

Responsibilities :

Define, maintain, and govern enterprise-wide

Business Glossary

and

Metadata Hub , ensuring consistent and standardized definitions across domains.

Collaborate with Data Owners, SMEs, and Data Architects to assign

data ownership, stewardship roles, and accountability

for critical data assets.

Support ongoing

metadata curation and enrichment

efforts, ensuring metadata completeness, quality, and alignment with business objectives.

Establish workflows for

metadata onboarding, change management, versioning, and lifecycle governance .

Work closely with Governance, Risk, Compliance, and IT teams to support

data classification, policy enforcement, and regulatory alignment .

Assist in generating

data lineage documentation

and support catalogue integration efforts.

Provide periodic reports and metrics on metadata completeness, glossary usage, and stewardship activities.

Champion metadata awareness and drive

data literacy initiatives

across business units.

Guide adoption and optimization of data governance tools like

Ab Initio (Preferred), Informatica, Atlan, or Snowflake .

Define roles and responsibilities for data stewards and custodians.

Train and evangelize data governance practices across departments.

Support audit and compliance reporting through accurate data lineage and usage logs.

Ensure business continuity with proper

data backup, archival, and purging strategies .

Align governance goals with broader

digital transformation and analytics strategies .

Technical Skills :

Strong understanding of

Data Governance principles, metadata management, and data stewardship frameworks .

Hands-on experience with

Business Glossary, Metadata Hub, or metadata management / collaboration tools

(e.g., Collibra, Informatica, Alation).

Excellent documentation, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills.

Working knowledge of

data modelling, data lineage, and data quality concepts .

Familiarity with

SQL, ETL / ELT pipelines, cloud data warehouses (BigQuery, Snowflake, GCP lakes) .

Knowledge of

Python, Shell Scripting, JSON, Java 8+, Spring Boot, REST APIs, GCP .

Debugging and design skills.

Awareness of

GenAI, LLM, RAG, Agentic RAG

is a plus.

Qualifications :

BE / B.Tech and / or M.Tech in any discipline.

2–4 years of experience in

metadata governance, business glossary management, and data ownership frameworks .

Familiarity with

Ab Initio Metadata Hub and Business Glossary

is a strong plus.

Exposure to

cloud data platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure)

and modern data stacks is an advantage.

Strong problem-solving, collaboration, and communication skills.
