Maritime Accounting Specialist

Job Responsibilities :

• Processes charterer deductions for owner’s expenses in a timely manner, according to the terms outlined in charterparty agreements
• Tracks deductions, requests and reviews supporting documents, obtains approvals by liaising with appropriate JVCO departments
• Allocates costs to expense accounts, monitors provisions, identifies excluded costs and issues invoices to charterers where applicable
• Prepares invoices for crew bonuses and other recoverable costs
• Monitors aging of outstanding owners expense deductions and supports AR and Commercial Teams with the shared goal of resolving deduction issues in a timely way.
• Reconciles GL accounts, investigates and resolves discrepancies.
• Maintains owners expense statistics for charterers and by vessels. Example : nature of deduction, amount, frequency, accept vs rejected.
• Maintains records of charterers supporting documents in shared drive
• Contributes ideas and actively participates in improvements to enhance the overall efficiency of the Owners Expense process, including both technology and non-system based solutions.
• Supports the AR Team by providing coverage for vacations, customer queries and various other tasks, as required.
