About the team :
We're seeking an experienced Global FinOps Lead to drive our strategic initiative for cost-effective resilient infrastructure. This is a high impact role where you will optimize our cloud economics across 140 SaaS products, reducing hosting costs to a target of 5-7% of revenue, while ensuring our infrastructure remains robust and reliable.
You'll be the driving force behind establishing a culture of cost consciousness across our engineering organization, working at the intersection of technology, finance, and operations to deliver measurable business outcomes.
Roles and Responsibilities :
Strategic Leadership :
- Lead the company-wide initiative to reduce hosting costs to 5-7% of revenue across 140 SaaS products with mixed architecture patterns and multi-cloud deployments
- Develop and implement a comprehensive FinOps framework that balances cost optimization with performance, resilience, and innovation
- Partner with our 11 business units and their Heads of Development to embed cost optimization into architectural design and technical decision making processes
- Establish transparent reporting mechanisms and KPIs that increase visibility of progress and foster a culture of cost consciousness within engineering teams
Operational Excellence :
Conduct systematic assessments of product infrastructure environments to right size overprovisioned resources and eliminate wasteBuild and maintain a comprehensive lever catalogue for cost savings (e.g., migration from Microsoft SQL to PostgreSQL, cloud managed services, containerization, data archiving)Map hosting costs per product and perform detailed analysis, tracking, and reporting to enable data-driven decisionsDrive license optimization initiatives across Microsoft, AWS and GCP programs and other major cloud providersImplement mandatory tagging strategies across products, environments, business units, and cost centersCollaboration & Change Management :
Work closely with Finance Business Partners to align cost optimization with business objectives and financial targetsCollaborate with Procurement to negotiate favorable cloud contracts and licensing agreementsPartner with our CloudOps team to implement technical solutions and operational best practicesConduct cost optimization training for engineers and development managers, making FinOps a core competencyChampion the initiative across the organization, winning battles to prioritize cost optimization alongside feature developmentBuild for Scale :
Establish monthly follow-up meetings, reporting cadence, and governance structuresEnhance existing product P&L dashboards with hosting cost vs. revenue ratio metricsEvaluate and implement cloud cost monitoring toolsEnsure operational cost targets are incorporated early in architectural design for all new products and major initiatives.Required Experience & Skills :
12+ years of experience with 5+ years in FinOps, cloud cost optimization, or infrastructure management roles, with at least 3 years in a leadership capacityProven track record of delivering significant cost savings (20%+ reduction) in complex, multi-product SaaS environmentsDeep expertise in multi-cloud architectures and hybrid infrastructure including private cloud, public cloud and on-premises systemsStrong understanding of SaaS business models, unit economics, and the relationship between hosting costs and revenueExperience working across multiple business units in a matrix organization, influencing without direct authorityFinOps Certified Practitioner or equivalent certification strongly preferredTechnical Competencies :
Hands-on experience with cloud cost management toolsUnderstanding of modern architectures : microservices, containerization (Docker, Kubernetes), serverlessFamiliarity with infrastructure as code and sounding Ops practicesAbility to analyze and optimize licensing agreements for major platforms (Microsoft, AWS and cloud providers)Knowledge of database optimization, storage tiering, and compute right sizing strategiesLeadership & Soft Skills :
