Role Overview :

The Team Lead – Academic Counselling will be responsible for leading and managing the academic counselling team to provide holistic support to students. This role involves counselling prospective and current students, developing strategies for student success, and ensuring alignment with the university’s academic goals and values.

Key Responsibilities :

  • Lead, mentor, and manage a team of academic counsellors.
  • Provide guidance and counselling to students regarding academic programs, course selection, career paths, and personal development.
  • Develop and implement student engagement strategies to improve academic performance, retention, and overall satisfaction.
  • Act as a bridge between students, faculty, and administration to resolve academic concerns.
  • Conduct orientation sessions, workshops, and counselling programs for new and existing students.
  • Track and monitor student progress, attendance, and academic outcomes; recommend interventions when needed.
  • Support admissions by counselling prospective students and parents about DSU programs and career prospects.
  • Ensure timely reporting, documentation, and MIS updates related to student counselling activities.
  • Collaborate with departments to enhance student learning experiences and promote a positive campus environment.
  • Stay updated on educational trends, career opportunities, and academic best practices.

Qualifications & Skills Required :

  • Master’s degree in Education, Psychology, Counselling, or related field (preferred).
  • Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in academic counselling / student support within the education sector.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to connect with students from diverse backgrounds with empathy and professionalism.
  • Proficiency in MS Office and student management systems.
  • Strategic thinker with the ability to implement innovative counselling practices.
