Role Overview :

  • The Area Business Manager is a Middle Management role within the Banking industry, specifically functioning as an Area / Territory Manager.
  • This position requires a PG / Master degree and involves a critical mix of sales leadership, team management, and client-facing responsibilities within a defined area or Cluster.
  • The incumbent must be Self Motivated, Result Driven, and possess strong Problem Solving skills, ensuring Alignment to Organisation Goals while growing the bank's Working Capital and Term Loan business.

Job Summary

We are seeking a dynamic Area Business Manager to take ownership of a defined territory or cluster, driving the bank's working capital and business loan growth. The ideal candidate will be an experienced sales leader, adept at mentoring Relationship Managers (RMs), driving new client acquisition, and managing portfolio profitability.

This role requires a deep understanding of client business models to structure appropriate financing solutions, strong collaboration with internal departments (Credit, Operations), and a focus on mitigating risk and promoting digital adoption at the location level.

Key Responsibilities and Business Development Deliverables

Sales Leadership and Team Management :

  • Act as the Cluster Head or Cluster Manager, providing strong leadership and mentorship to a team of Relationship Managers (RMs) to ensure they achieve their performance goals.
  • Drive the team's efforts in acquire new clients and actively manage, maintain, and enhance the existing customer portfolio within the designated Territory Business.
  • Drive the adoption of digital initiatives at the location level, ensuring RMs utilize tools for efficiency and enhanced client experience.
  • Business Growth and Profitability :

  • Focus aggressively on increasing the book size, SOH (Share of House / Wallet), and overall profitability for the location, aligning with bank strategy.
  • Lead Area Sales efforts, ensuring market penetration and high-quality business sourcing for Working Capital and Term Loan products.
  • Client Strategy and Solutioning :

  • Understand client business models, trade activities, and cash flows in depth to accurately provide appropriate working capital and business loan solutions (e.g., Cash Credit, Bills Discounting, Overdrafts).
  • Operational Efficiency and Risk Mitigation :

  • Liaise with internal departments (Credit, Operations, Trade Desk, Branch) to quickly resolve client issues within defined TATs (Turn Around Times).
  • Ensure smooth processing of applications and payments, mitigating operational risks and ensuring strict adherence to compliance standards.
  • Mandatory Skills & Level : Middle Management with strong leadership experience in a sales environment.

    Core Function : Expertise in Cluster Head, Cluster Manager, Cluster Sales, Territory Business, Territory Manager, Area Sales, and Area Manager.

    Product Knowledge : Deep knowledge of Working Capital products and Term Loan solutions.

    Education : PG / Master degree.

    Core Traits : Proven capacity to be Self Motivated, Result Driven, and Problem Solving.

    Preferred Skills

  • Demonstrated success in growing a lending portfolio in the mid-market or corporate segment.
  • Knowledge of relevant banking regulations related to working capital and commercial lending.
  • Experience with CRM systems for managing sales pipelines and client data.
