About the Role

We’re looking for an experienced Backend Engineering Manager with deep expertise in Node.js and modern backend architecture to lead a high-performing team building scalable, resilient APIs and services that power DAZN’s next-gen sports streaming experience.

You will drive technical excellence, coach engineers, collaborate cross-functionally with product, data, and platform teams, and ensure our systems deliver seamless fan experiences worldwide.

Responsibilities

• Lead and mentor a team of backend engineers working primarily with Node.js , TypeScript , and AWS .
• Design, develop, and optimize high-volume, low-latency APIs and microservices supporting millions of DAZN users.
• Partner with Product, Architecture, and DevOps teams to deliver high-impact, scalable backend solutions.
• Establish and drive best practices in code quality, CI / CD, testing, and observability .
• Manage sprint planning, technical design reviews, and delivery timelines.
• Recruit, retain, and grow world-class backend talent.
• Foster a collaborative engineering culture rooted in continuous learning and ownership.
• Work closely with stakeholders across global teams (UK, Poland, Japan, and Italy).
