Role Overview
The Pre-Sales Solution Architect will drive solutioning and proposal development for Application Modernization & Development projects. While this role is not full hands-on , rather a techno-commercial solution leadership role candidates must possess deep technical expertise to effectively collaborate with practice architects, delivery teams, and sales teams .
This individual will own the pre-sales solution design, pricing, and effort estimation , ensuring alignment with customer needs, business objectives, and best practices in modern application development . The ideal candidate will bridge technical and business discussions , demonstrating thought leadership and innovation to influence customer decisions early in the sales cycle.
Primary Responsibilities
- Drive and support business development activities by leveraging previous experience and an in-depth understanding of practice capabilities and methodologies .
- Own solution development, pricing, and associated deliverables , ensuring alignment with business, technical, process, resource, and contractual requirements .
- Develop and drive a business and technological point of view , positioning the company as a trusted partner in Application Modernization, Cloud, and Data initiatives.
- Ensure solution feasibility by working closely with sales, practice architects, delivery teams, and finance to develop compelling proposals, RFP / RFI responses, and proof-of-concepts (PoCs) .
- Engage practice technical architects and leadership to ensure delivery excellence, mitigate risk, and facilitate solution development and communication .
- Lead solution presentations, customer workshops, and bid defenses , effectively demonstrating technical and business value to clients.
- Support sales enablement and internal training , helping the India sales team understand modern application development strategies, effort estimation, and solution positioning .
- Drive thought leadership early and throughout the sales cycle , influencing High level stakeholder discussions on digital transformation, modernization, and cloud-native solutions .
Ideal Experience
1. Sales Enablement & Solutioning for Application Development
Proven track record of pre-sales and solutioning for application development and modernization projects .Ability to engage and drive customer solutions while also assisting in educating and upskilling the sales team as they progress through pursuits.Strong experience in leading technical workshops, bid defenses, and whiteboarding sessions with customers.Experience on GCC opportunities , designing solutions tailored for global capability centers and digital transformation initiatives is a plus.2. Application Modernization & Development Expertise
Must have hands-on application development experience of 7+ in past.Must have a deep understanding of Application Modernization , including re-platforming, re-architecting, cloud-native development, and microservices-based transformation .Expertise in modern development frameworks (e.g., Spring Boot, .NET Core, Node.js, React, Angular ) and API-first development .Knowledge of cloud-native application design (e.g., serverless computing, containerization, Kubernetes, CI / CD, DevSecOps ).Experience with legacy-to-modern technology migrations (e.g., Java EE to Spring Boot, .NET to .NET Core, Oracle / DB2 to PostgreSQL, on-prem to cloud ).3. Effort Estimation, Costing & Pricing for Software Development
Experience developing effort / cost estimates, service pricing, and writing statements of work (SOWs) .Strong understanding of effort estimation methodologies (e.g., Function Point Analysis, Story Points, T-Shirt Sizing, WBS-based estimation ).Experience in defining costing models, pricing strategies, and resource planning for Application Development & Modernization .Familiarity with Time & Material (T&M), Fixed Price (FP), and Outcome-Based Pricing models.Ability to review and contribute to client contractual agreements , ensuring cost-effectiveness and delivery feasibility.4. Cloud & Data Strategy for Modernization
Familiarity with serverless architectures, event-driven systems, and API-based integrations .Understanding of data engineering considerations for application modernization (e.g., streaming data, cloud-native databases, analytics integration ).5. Industry & Competitor Experience
Experience working in or competing with India-based ITOs like (TCS / Wipro / HCL / Cognizant / Infosys etc)Expertise in at least one or two industry domains such as BFSI, Healthcare, Retail, Manufacturing, or Telecom .Ability to navigate internal groups (Sales, Practice, Delivery, Finance, Recruiting) to align on solution strategy and execution.6. Full DevOps Lifecycle & Agile Methodologies
Understanding of the full DevOps lifecycle and modern software development methodologies ( Agile, Scrum, Kanban ).Familiarity with CI / CD pipelines, automated testing frameworks
