Kavitha Gutta is a textile-driven couture brand celebrating India’s rich weaving heritage through pure silk and pure zari weaves from Kanchipuram and Banaras. We specialize in heirloom-quality saris, luxury bridal ensembles, and contemporary silhouettes rooted in culture, craftsmanship, and timeless elegance.
We are looking for a passionate and highly skilled Senior Fashion Designer who is deeply connected to textile craft, surface embellishment, and elevated couture techniques—with strong organizational and production experience.
Key Responsibilities
Design & Development
- Lead the ideation and development of seasonal couture collections, saris, blouses, bridal wear, and custom pieces.
- Create detailed sketches, technical drawings, fabric layouts, and color stories aligned with the brand’s identity.
- Develop surface ornamentation concepts (zari weaving layouts, embroidery patterns, hand embellishment, appliqué, etc.)
- Research motifs, art references, cultural themes, and weave structures for design storytelling.
Textile & Craft Collaboration
Work closely with weavers, karigars, and embroidery units to translate design ideas into finished textiles and garments.Develop and approve weaving graphs, swatches, dye lots, and embellishment samples.Ensure accuracy in warp, weft, motif placement, zari weight, and technique refinement.Production & Execution
Oversee the sampling-to-production pipeline ensuring flawless execution, finishing, and fit.Prepare and maintain tech packs, costing sheets, size specs, and production timelines.Conduct quality checks and ensure consistency in making, embroidery, and garment construction.Team & Vendor Coordination
Work collaboratively with in-house tailoring teams, embellishment units, and external vendors.Coordinate with the store team for custom bridal orders, ensuring client designs translate precisely.Organization & Documentation
Maintain design archives, material inventories, embellishment records, and production workflows.Ensure systematic tracking of orders, timelines, and approvals.Required Skills & Qualifications
4–5 years of professional design experience in luxury, bridal, couture, or textile-driven labels.Strong understanding of handwoven textiles , zari techniques, and artisanal craft processes.Expertise in surface embellishment design and embroidery development .Experience with print design and textile repeats (digital or hand-illustrated).Strong command of pattern-making basics, garment construction, and fittings.Proficiency in Adobe Illustrator / Photoshop or similar design tools.Excellent organizational skills, communication, and ability to multitask.Strong aesthetic sense aligned with the brand—classic, rich, cultural, and refined.Personal Attributes
