Job Purpose :

Design at Royal Enfield is an international effort, and as part of this diverse team you will be working with colleagues in the UK and India to create evocative representations of design intent. We have a rich history as the longest continuously manufacturing motorcycle company, and a great expectation from our customers to steward that heritage into exceptional modern motorcycles. As a Lead Studio Engineer at Royal Enfield you will be influential in the creative stages of the development of new motorcycles, supporting the Industrial Design and Engineering teams in bridging creative design ideas with technical execution, ensuring feasibility and compatibility of new concepts. You are able to quickly create compelling digital models, understanding design requirements and realising them with a high degree of sensitivity to surface, form and finish, and are proficient in outputting these 3D models in NURBS surfaces or Parametric solid models.

Your main goal will be solving specific design problems and working on whole system designs; flair, aesthetic judgement and creativity are therefore essential. The ability to work positively in a team will be the real key to your success.

Reports to : Group Manager

Function : Industrial Design

What You'll do :

  • Propose creative solutions adhering to Brand strategy, packaging, regulatory and project timing

constraints

  • Co-Create Design in collaboration with the customers and bringing them to production.
  • Communicate proposals visually through 2D sketches & 3D models, both digitally and physically
  • Provide Industrial Design support to Product Development in order to preserve Design intent
  • through the development process

  • Lead and manage whole bike design projects from concept to production, reporting progress to
  • the Programme Management team and presenting to Senior management at project gate reviews.

  • Collaborate with other design disciplines such as engineering, and vendors to execute on project
  • objectives, deliverables, and timelines

  • Insightful reports on Design Trends as observed at events and on dedicated research trips.
  • Keep abreast of Design / Colour and Materials / Technical / Trends developments within automotive / other industries.
  • Identify and benchmark relevant competitors, encouraging awareness of trends inside and outside
  • the automotive industry.

  • Monitor performance of the reporting team; Provide timely and objective feedback to subordinates.
  • Recruit, assess, train, mentor, develop and manage direct reporting staff
  • What you'll bring : Experience :

  • 5+ years of experience in the field with a proven history of Production Experience.
  • Proven experience in seeing Powered two wheeler projects through to production.
  • Excellent communication skills and attention to details.
  • Having strong rendering (2D) skills and an ability to visually communicate through sketches,and renderings is a must.
  • Ability to think three-dimensionally with a strong emphasis on proportions and a refined sense of form
  • Must be proficient in Adobe Creative Suite. Knowledge of multiple applications is required for this position, as its will deal with various aspects of visual communication for all design assignments
  • 3D software (ALIAS / Rhino3D / Blender) skills is a must.
  • Working knowledge of rendering software ( Keyshot / V Red)
  • Excellent team working ethic and an enthusiasm for cross-culture experiences.
  • Willingness to travel (domestic / international) for extended periods of time.
  • Qualification :

    Bachelor's / Master’s degree required in Automotive / Product Design or Industrial Design
