Director of Journal Publishing

The Role

JoVE is seeking a results-driven individual to lead the scientific manuscript publication process for its prestigious and globally recognized JoVE Journal . This role will lead cross-functional teams across peer review, content writing, and video production to ensure delivery of a high volume scientific publications.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage the JoVE Journal teams, including Peer Review Editors, Content Writers, and Video Production staff to ensure efficient publishing operations.
• Oversee the complete manuscript workflow from peer review to publication, ensuring timeliness, quality, and adherence to journal standards.
• Identify inefficiencies and process bottlenecks; implement continuous improvement initiatives to increase throughput and reduce publication timelines.
• Monitor industry trends and emerging technologies such as AI to optimize workflows, enhance productivity, and improve the author experience.
• Define team KPIs and departmental goals; monitor performance and ensure accountability.
• Ensure scientific rigor and editorial excellence are maintained across all published content, aligning with JoVE’s standards.
• Identify new journal sections or special issues in response to emerging research trends.
