We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Senior Staff Nurse to join our Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) team. The ideal candidate will be a leader in providing specialized care to our most vulnerable patients, ensuring their safety and well-being. This role requires extensive expertise in neonatal care, strict adherence to protocols, and the ability to provide critical support and communication to parents.
Key Responsibilities
- Neonate Care & Safety :
- Ensure the safety and security of neonates by rigorously following all safety measures.
- Provide professional bedside nursing care and prepare comprehensive nursing care plans.
- Monitor neonates on incubators and ventilators , promptly informing doctors of any abnormal findings.
- Assist doctors in the management of asphyxiated neonates, including resuscitation and stabilization .
- Complete the preoperative checklist before a neonate is sent to the operation theatre.
- Communication & Family Support :
- Provide condition updates to parents at least twice a day and immediately inform them of any critical changes.
- Offer comfort and emotional strength to parents throughout their journey.
- Ensure visitors follow Aseptic protocols when entering the NICU to maintain a sterile environment.
- Clinical & Administrative Duties :
- Review doctors' notes and drug charts upon admission, implementing all required actions.
- Ensure all prescribed investigations are carried out and reports are available for doctors in a timely manner.
- Raise pharmacy indents, check received stock, and manage medications in the bedside locker and trolley.
- Coordinate the procurement of blood and blood products for transfusions, immediately reporting any reactions to the treating consultant, In-charge, and Nursing Superintendent.
- Knowledge & Compliance :
- Possess a thorough knowledge of gestational age assessment and the special problems of premature, post-mature, and other high-risk neonates.
- Be aware of the APGAR scoring performed on newborns.
- Hold certification in NALS & NRP (Neonatal Advanced Life Support & Neonatal Resuscitation Program) .
- Have thorough knowledge of I.V. fluid and drug calculations .
- Observe neonates to ensure safe medication administration and note any adverse reactions.
- Strictly implement protocols for Infection control , hand washing, medications, and the narcotic policy.
- Be aware of and implement NABH & NE (Nursing Excellence) standards.
Educational Qualifications
A degree or diploma in Nursing from a recognized institution.A valid State Registration Nursing Council Certificate is mandatory.Required Skills
