Job Overview :
Responsible for the execution and supervision of piping construction activities at our client site — ensuring timely completion, quality compliance, and adherence to ONGC’s HSE standards. The role involves coordination with QA / QC, planning, safety, and other disciplines to achieve project milestones.
Key Responsibilities :
For 5–10 Years Experience (Execution Engineer) :
Execute piping works such as fabrication, fit-up, welding, erection, and hydrotesting as per drawings and standards.
Supervise contractor activities and ensure compliance with approved ITPs and WPS.
Coordinate with QA / QC, planning, and safety teams for inspections and work progress.
Ensure material traceability, maintain work records, and prepare daily progress reports (DPRs) .
Follow ONGC quality and safety procedures at all stages of execution.
Support line checking, punch list clearance, and reinstatement.
For 10–15 Years Experience (Senior Engineer / Area In-charge) :
Lead piping construction activities for assigned units, areas, or process plants .
Plan and allocate manpower, materials, and equipment to meet project targets.
Review drawings, identify site issues, and coordinate with design / PMC / ONGC engineers for resolution.
Manage subcontractors, monitor productivity, and ensure daily and weekly progress reporting.
Conduct and witness hydro / pneumatic testing , line flushing, and reinstatement activities.
Coordinate with other disciplines (civil, structural, mechanical, electrical, instrumentation) for smooth execution.
Ensure proper documentation, QA / QC compliance, and interface with the billing and planning teams.
For 15–20 Years Experience (Construction Lead) :
Lead overall piping execution for multiple packages or the entire project scope.
Review and implement the construction execution plan , schedule, and resource plan.
Interface with ONGC / PMC / Client representatives for technical clarifications, approvals, and inspections.
Drive productivity, cost control, and milestone achievement within allocated resources.
Ensure compliance with ONGC QHSE systems, ITPs, and project specifications .
Conduct progress review meetings, manage subcontractors, and implement recovery plans when required.
Supervise pre-commissioning, system walk-downs, punch closure, and mechanical completion.
Mentor and guide junior engineers and promote a strong safety and quality culture on site.
Key Skills & Competencies :
Sound knowledge of ASME, API, ASTM, IS codes and ONGC-specific standards.
Experience in fabrication, erection, welding, NDT, and hydrotesting of process piping.
Ability to interpret isometric drawings, P&IDs, and GADs accurately.
Familiarity with ITPs, WPS, PQR , and quality documentation.
Hands-on experience in EPC oil & gas / refinery projects (ONGC, IOCL, EIL, HPCL, BPCL, etc.).
Strong coordination, leadership, and communication skills.
Proficiency in MS Office, AutoCAD, and MS Project / Primavera (for reporting & planning).
Qualification :
B.E. / B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering (mandatory)
M.E. / M.Tech in Piping / Production / Industrial Engineering (preferred for senior roles)
